Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Digital life sell off

I've heard from a few different people for the past few months that digital life was going to divested or sold off. Just last week I heard this again. Anyone know of any info or heard anything on their end?

As an employee of Digital Life. I can tell you it’s still being used to this day, AT&T is now going internet based for their communication to monitoring. System are still being upgraded and devices are still being installed and cared for to this day, most people like Digital Life and AT&T and are staying with the service,

I talked to my AT&T Digital Life support person and he confirmed they are turning over the business to Brinks by Feb 2022. He said someone would contact me about coming out and installing the Brinks equipment before February. After reviewing what Brinks offers and the cos online, I decided to go with someone else. I had no complaints about the Digital Life system, even though it was fairly expensive.

The service support person on the phone said they had instructions now to start telling their customers about the switchover.

Which isn't linked anywhere off the att.com homepage, it's not in the bundles area, it's not in the "smart technology" area, it's not in the footer or the "looking for more" block right above it. Face it, the product is abandoned in place just like u-verse tv. Be mad about it if you want but face the truth and start circulating your resume.

We have no idea what is going to happen with Digital Life. It's true that it has been a joke since inception. We never learned from our mistakes. The structure to sell out of stores without even looking at a customer's home was a massive mistake. Free systems that everyone that purchased a phone was signed up for, even though they didn't want it. Unethical sales people that were not held accountable for all the time and money wasted. Contractor companies that the techs had no pride in installing and hacked the installs in. We were handcuffed in not being able to correct them and they grew to realize it causing more issues. If done right, we should have 3 million customers and running strong, but we stuck with poor business practices and more and more busy work was created to make the senior managers feel that something different was happening, when we didn't change a thing and they knew it. Now they are laying off in waves to not turn heads and be noticed. We were told a year ago to have a plan B because it's done on a conference call.

Worked for digital life for a long time and watched it go down hill left before it got real bad. Fatmans comments above were pretty much right on but he missed one big thing. Maybe if directors like fatman spent more time on how to make money and less on how many cities they could travel to and eat as many cheeseburgers as he could on the company dime it would have survived. You were a HUGE part of the problem Fatman.. You my friend were one of the people who had no business in the position you were in.

I have worked for Digital Life from the beginning in the Miami area I have traveled to the Texas area and also worked Digital Life did not hire the appropriate technicians with the proper skills required to do the job technicians runs cables all over your house walls the system takes over your entire house with repeaters using your home electrical outlets the signal for the devices are very weak the system is very overpriced having said this system can not be taken over by any other system meaning for you to transfer to another alarm company you basically have to start all over again which is very costly the cameras that they offer are not survalence cameras they are only lifestyle these cameras do not record everyday all day 365 days a year also an additional cost which is a very bad choice False hope false promises the managers do not treat their employees like human beings they are slaves technicians or put everyday on a daily basis in bad situations which leads to getting threaten everyday technicians off forced to lie to customers that the job will be completed the same day and it takes less time when it don't system forever having software issues which always causes the tec more time than usual my four years I have witness great guys being fired just so AT&T Digital Life and Mastic can look good for their riches MasTec changed technicians pay two piece work which technicians had no say or find another job you basically work 12 hours a day and make $80 now they only have for technicians let's sum all of this up MasTec bad Company practices installing a bad overpriced product slavery mentality

I haven't been given an install in over a week and there are two installs scheduled for the next 4 weeks. My manager was just let go and they just closed down our shop and moved all the equipment to a storage unit. I was also informed by a store manager I've gotten to know that I should consider moving to the direct tv side or start sending out my resume. I think it's safe to say this won't be around for much longer.

Lol my store manager keeps saying digital life isn't going away anytime soon. Meanwhile I get surplused wireline employees in my store saying DL is dead. Clueless pleeb manager, trying telling me why the month long flash sale is based on renewed focus by the company.

New DL service will stop being sold later this year. Existing customers will continue (with crappy service) until they leave on their own or until a yet unknown time when a complete shutdown occurs.

I believe both of the "experts" we used to send address escalations to are both no longer in their roles. Along with it being moved to part of the wireless component, the answer is obvious. It's just a matter of time.

It hasn't been announced, but it's a 100% certainty in my mind.

Digital life is dead. I work as the

Director Of Operations at MasTec Advanced Technologies in Ohio and I have been traveling to markets and closing down offices. Att and Mastec do not care about people and put profits before people. I can't believe it has lasted this long. The customers are the losers here no support for the product. In my 4 years with the Digital life program I have let go hundreds of employees for no good reason except to satisfy ATT and Mastecs greed. I hope I can find a job where I don't feel guilty everyday for my bad deeds working for such a company as Mastec that sold thier sole to the devil att for profit.

Digital life is now part of the wireless component in rsc comp, which means only getting paid like $6 for each sale. This makes me think its in sell off territory now. Any updates???

I left ATT a year and a half ago as an RSM. At that time we were forced to shove this subpar product down our customers throats or be ridiculed on a daily conference call with all of your peers on the line. And the stores that were crushing their goal, were shady and not doing the right thing by the company or the customer. They were propped up and promoted. What a joke. Just like shoving a well below par tablet on someone.. It was the exact samething with WHPP.. Terrible product.. tons of focus..

ATT only got into the security business thinking it would be an add on for the cell service offerings. It would have worked if they knew even a 1% about the business. The equipment is totally propriety and will NOT work with any other system. Monthly monitoring cost exceed even ADT which is the biggest. Installation is below par and based on reviews, many people have problems. About the only thing good is if you drop monitoring the siren still works so a neighbor hopefully will call police.

Yes I work for ATT and fully regret the purchase. In my humble opinion it wont be long before the company dumps the product line.

Out of the top ten , AT&T came last For Home Security Systems Reviews in 2016, it can get pricey rather quickly, highest than other national provider. If you decide to move forward with AT&T good luck, it will be sold this year

Who has Digital Life other than AT&T employees? I know the answer...

Digital Life is too expensive for what it is. You can get Ring at Costco for a one time purchase and no monthly fee. Same with other home automation equipment from Belkin, etc.

They want to make the book of business very attractive to potential buyers, , before the resell off

Also with the usual flash sales they run every month throwing free or heavily discounted equipment, I believe it more often. It's like they can't this thing away. Ive heard of COR and AR giving crazy deals like bill credits and additional free equipment just to get the sale.
