My husband works for COR and as a RSC and was just told his store was closing. No chance at transferring to another COR store in the market due to head count, despite his outstanding performance. Apparently this is due to the merger between AT&T and direct tv, which had a stipulation in the contract that direct tv employees could not be laid off for 1 year. Honestly, at this point, I'm not sure I would want him to transfer if he did have the opportunity, Labor Unions will be in trouble with this administration, and the COR will likely turn into an Authorized Retailer within the next year. Time to get off this roller coaster.

Gee, maybe Trump will take of his shirt and ride the white horse to save all the AT&T jobs, like he promised!

That is, if Uncle Vlad lets him.

It's OFFICIAL Assitant managers are now being cut

Support groups are also being cut. Remote support and no on-site support will be used.

Sadly groups like ATS have been told all is ok but they are also in the bucket along with inside support groups. Our call today was 10 minutes and the VP took no questions. People are not happy but that's how we are being treated..

Yep, mandatory call at 12 for us today. Just a 30 minute call to give us our fate. Just enough time for 1 question and oh we have to go we have another call. Way to keep us motivated to make numbers until you actually cut all of us hard working RAEs.

Last minute 30 min conf call from 5th line scheduled today with a cast of hundreds - only means one thing. Just in time for a major force reduction before end of first quarter.

I was on that call and in my office people were very upset by the attitude of the P doing the call. Out 3rd level was very quiet.

We were told today during an all hands call for our managers that the company has announced it is working to get technical agreements for the 5G cell service and the testing has shown a 100 gig capability. When someone asked the possibility of more layoffs for services such as U-Verse or other wireline supported offerings the statement was " we are moving to a 2020 company and as expected there will be changes." Then it was asked why the company expects to be able to offer all cell service and who will support the service. The statement was" we expect the service to be installed by the customer by simply plugging a receiver into a power outlet. Support will be by new groups established in various countries"

This did not sit well with our group because we will be the ones cut. We asked about the current support groups both in Mobility and groups like ATS. The call ended and we were told more to come.

not good.

RAE's will be gone. COR stores and managers will be next middle of the year. It's been in the works and HR is already preparing.

Since HR verified it will hold MESA meetings every Tuesday, 52 weeks a year, then the answer is yes. ATT was surplussing people all throughout 2016 and obviously in 2015. A reminder, once again, that Donovan, in a skills pivot meeting in 2016, stated that AT&T WILL BE cutting it's workforce (e.g. employees not contractors) by 30%.

What will they do with all the leftover baseball, basketball and other tickets always used as a carrot?

Another blunder before our eyes, This company has not evolve, artificially it has become a Conglomerate,

AT&T as network access provider, is the gate keeper and the key holder of equal access, add content to that and it becomes an antitrust case of aggregate concentration.

these mergers are anticompetitive because they create reciprocal dealings and predatory pricing, and reduce the number of potential competitors. Indeed, our government forgot to put considerable weight to these charges, they contribute to the reported increase in the proportion of assets held by the largest companies, at the end we are all affected, don't see it yet? It is a matter of time ...

Surpluses are a daily occurrence that will continue indefinitely. The company is always looking to lower expenses and guess what is their biggest expense? You betcha its employees.

Do you know which business units? Seems the business solutions group continues to avoid layoffs and has directors with few direct reports. In fact, the organization structure seems to be unlike any of the other business units. Just an observation.

We'd have to wait till end of Jan, they wouldn't tell us until they have to. Jan 30 is right about 60 days from end of Q1.

This is AT&T! The better question should be is there ever a quarter that AT&T doesn't announce a surplus?

It will be call centers, cor stores, assistant positions, project management jobs and duplicate roles

Notifications for indirect will go out sometime mid-January. That being said, roughly sixty days after notifications would put us in March surplus.
