Last day was October 31st. Finally scored a job at a local pizza hut. Was with big red 20 years. At least the new job will have benefits
Such harsh comments. I wish we had bought a few toys, but I guess it is better that we didn't. We came out not much better than those who didn't save in that crap that went on in 2008. But not buying more house than you can afford and paying it off as soon as you can has always given us peace of mind. We are down about a third from the Verizon days all things considered and a have huge deductible on health insurance. On the plus side he works mostly with Americans now, constant stress and constant ridiculous calls at all hours are a thing of the past. So I say thanks for the Rif money, but shame on them for culling workers because they are of a certain age and income and replacing them with foreign workers in IT.
I turned in my severance paperwork in December 2015 and was not paid out until the end of January 2016. Probably for the best from a payroll tax perspective that it took that long.
I am part of the Nov 17 crew... I received my last check and vacation payout last week but still no severance as per my agreement. Can anyone tell me when I might expect this payment or will VZ f--- me out of it like they f--- everyone else all the time?
10 % IT lay off on Nov 17th.
Who was cut on November 17th? Verizon is such a piece of $hit always cutting people before Christmas.
I was cut a year ago and found better job within two months.
OP, I am sorry you lost your job. I lost mine last year so I kind of know what you are going through. Don't let the negative comments get you down....

Two years should go quick. And u didn't save any money at your age. U should have no Mortage. U must not of been that bright.
If you can get hired good for you. I got laid of Dec 2015 and now living in poverty and can't pay all bills , used all $ sold all toys, no new clothes or shoes, no nothing . no one wants 60 year old, can't wait till 62 SS time, many interviews, work 12 hr shift job now , half paycheck from before.
