My manager said layoffs may be moving to March so that when employees are terminated, there is very little vacation to pay out since it goes to zero on 3/31.

I overheard my boss talking to his boss about the layoffs. Supposedly a "BILLION" (!!) employees are going to lose their job in 2 days! I'm praying for everyone!!!
The new CFO gets the credit for anything that happens during his watch good or bad - he can run the accounting team anyway he chooses including onsite. He was brought in as RG previously worked with him at ACE with a background of outsourcing accounting functions (check his resume), and other functions. The previous CFO was dragging his feet outsourcing because he didn't support it.

I know for sure that there are going to be layoffs again this year like the past two. This time ACs, accounting, and library services will be hit. So, if I were you, I'd start looking.
Don't blame the new CFO, it was in the plans long before he came.
Other depts that were/are on the table for out sourcing are payroll, purchasing and some parts of accounting.
Accounting (specifically AP) and IT (PSC and shared services) is on the list of layoffs in coming few weeks. Word is that new FHEG CFO wants some of AP functions outsourced to improve "efficiency" and cost savings.

They are only required to keep 60 perm employees at Tower. This information is available for anyone by googling..

Rumour has it that the 10 million tax credit for not faking a move to Wisconsin requires a certain number of employees in the tower. That tax break likely expired 12/31 so they needed to cut the 12/1 layoffs into two to keep the number of employees artificially high at 12/31. #crookedFollett

You must not be in FSS IT. There hasn't been any mention of layoffs over here.
A massive something is happening with Follett on any given day. Some of you act like this is simply normal and should be dismissed as such. This once great company will keep shrinking and layoffs--massive or not--will be de rigueur. If you stick around then you should expect more work for the same (or less) money. Unless you're working for SS, in which you might have it a bit easier since he apparently has Follett by the proverbial juevos.
that's my point thogh. jobs are not guaranteed. they are only a contract between you and your employer that can be changed at any time. if you are laid off and surprised, then that is your fault. you should always be ready to move on. so to always be telling everyone a "massive" lay off is coming is pointless.
I used the word massive because they were. I was recalling what happened last year since someone asked. If they do similar tactics, then at least you have more than zero f'ing warning like we did you moron.

Never said massive layoffs. Only mentioned that the cuts they make will be mid March per usual pattern. There aren't enough people left for a massive layoff. No fat to trim they're on to the meat.
you might as well post there's going to be a massive layoff everymonth. last time i heard about 'massive' layoffs, there weren't any. maybe there were a handful of people let go, but definitely nothing 'massive'. the only thing posts like this accomplish is to instill fear.
Next cuts closer to mid March. If you look at pattern, they let people go the 2nd Friday of the month.

I'm not at FSS anymore, but last year they did massive layoffs in February, and then calmed people down before doing a bunch more in March. Whole departments were gutted. Hopefully this year won't be a repeat of last year. I did find a new job so gl to everyone still working at Follett.
I did read they were screwing with pto again.. last year they made us get to under 40 hours before the new year, then again before march 9th. Literally the next day they laid people off. It was planned way ahead of time in 2015.
FSS is hiring and there are new roles. There was a new director position posted last week who will be in charge of new school aqcitions. Who else can they lay off?
I hope those blokes in it dev get the boot. Watching them sit on their iPads watching Netflix or doing other work is frustrating. While others are working their butts off I see some individuals come and go, walking in late, taking long lunches and leaving early.

Unfortunately, this is absolutely accurate. Those impacted will be shared services and a continuation of the layoffs on 12/1. The list is already defined and it is significant. If you are in HR, accounting, IT you are at risk of being laid off. They split the 12/1 layoffs into two to avoid impacting January rush.
All speculation and fear mongering. Give it a rest.
So where will the cuts fall this time? Aurora? Stores? FSS? B&T?
