anyone have an idea how long it takes to receive your severance once youve faxed in the signed papers?......its been about two weeks

I believe the severance agreement says 8 days after last working day which is December 30 for me. I was riffed in the class of Nov 2016.
Anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks.
Mine took 4 weeks / direct deposit
Play it to your tax advantage if you can
It may be after Jan.01, 2017 which will be good for you - income tax wise(it will be 2017 earnings taxed) . If you have your regular 2016 earnings PLUS the severance pay(paid in 2016) . IRS will love you
