Lowell and Fran are wireless types who it seems never really embraced the principles of what a communications company does, which is why they hate the unions and have little grasp of how to meet the customer's communication needs.
These two 'rock stars' are more interested in pocketing as much of the shareholders cash as they can, and get on TV as often as possible.

Verizon sells the FIOS "suite" not the fiber. FIOS is a product that runs on the fiber optic cable. Verizon does not sell the Fiber optic cable with FIOS. It's the most idiotic deal any company could engage in.
Verizon does want to sell the FIOS in the Northeast also, but it wants to keep it's fiber cable to "Backhaul" its other enterprises such as the wireless side and future services to home as the Boston build is showing us. One day Verizon wants to compete against FIOS believe it or not.
Google will never enter into an agreement like that.....Verizon wants to dump the cost part of the FIOS business such as the trucks, techs, supplies, tools, installations, repairs carrier fees with the networks Keep its Core and charge Google rent to be in its' fiber cable. Insane!
Backhaul......Visualize the entire hierarchical network as a human skeleton, the core network would represent the spine, the backhaul links would be the limbs, the edge networks would be the hands and feet, and the individual links within those edge networks would be the fingers and toes.
Verizon wants to keep the spine and limbs...sell the hands , feet, fingers, and toes.
Good luck finding a buyer.......It would have been sold a long time ago otherwise.

Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure that Verizon owns 49% of Frontier and from what I've both seen and heard, Frontier is destroying the "fios" brand in the territories that they "bought" from Verizon.
While I agree that a lot of people want FiOS, they don't want to pay for it and it costs too much to deploy when the trend is customers cutting out the traditional cable tv bill and going to streaming services.
The trend of going to streaming services is exactly why a consumer would want FIOS, or some other fiber to the premise product. Streaming is only good if you have the bandwidth to support it.

These days, which wasn't the case back when FiOS was first deployed, the return on a new build just isn't there selling data only packages. Sure they're tackling the Boston build and only time will tell if it pays off, but considering it's a build for the future "the one fiber concept" it will allow them to deploy 5g quickly and efficiently which the company is hedging its bets on. If they're first in the game, they will be succesful until everyone else catches up, but until they actually provide content, all they are ever going to be is a data pipe provider and there is too much competition and not enough growth in that market.

VZW will have to offer unlimited data, they are fighting it but it will happen. People who have FIOS love it, people who don't have FIOS want it, nuff said.
Wireless growth will continue to drop with all of the companies nickel-and-diming each other to death on the plan costs while Verizon refuses to drop the price on their superior network that isn't superior anymore. People want a direct fiber to the home. End of story. I expect all of the executives to be ousted soon before the crash really hits.
@KvsnRk5-gjz You're a Moron.....The Wireline side is not about telephones Bozo...It's about that superior high-speed uninterrupted lighting fast streaming data that only fiber to the prem can deliver. That's why there's 12% growth in wireline and Zero growth in wireless.
Landline telephones are the future. I am investing in a new venture that will be making Mickey Mouse home phones where he is holding the receiver. I am gonna be rich!

How's that working out for them today? With wireless hemorrhaging customers and growth at below zero, the prospects look glum at best to put it nicely.
Now with Wireline showing a 12% growth proving customers want interrupted superior service to their homes and very little competition that can provide that service. The wireline side is booming.
Lowell and Fran have sold off 20 states of the wireline in the last 8 years with " their vision" of the "future" They have spent $150 BILLION of Verizon's WIRELINE money to buy a wireless company ( Vodaphone ) just to triple down on their future.
When they walk away from Verizon with their lump sum or the truckload of Verizon's money, they leave behind a company that is not in a better position for the real future.
