Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

HPE Just sold the HP Garage - Break it up even more. Kill the heart, brain, nerves and limbs, just selling organs for cash

Meg pulled the lifeline behind the cover of darkness. Sold for some nice money to cover her screw-ups and make the stock-holders happy (Meg's bonus). Nice low rental fee HP/HPE will pay on it going forward BUT... when you find out who bought it you know where the company is going... FAST.

Hold your heads up high HPers (Compaq, DEC, Tandem, etc). Gordon Gecko took engineering and innovation and turned it into a junk bond. Proud working with you.

I thought it was funny that during the split, Meg would send out e-mails with a picture of The Garage and call it a "two car garage"

I guess Meg's never had to deal with a real car, being carted around in limos all the time, but "The Garage" is definitely not a two car garage - it's barely big enough for a small car.

If it helps, even Bill and Dave thought it was a stupid marketing tool. I believe Bill was the one that said ,

'Nothing good came out of the garage'. It wasn't where the company made its mark. Most of us blue badges laugh when it's used to sell the company to the employees. HP's greatness came later. But if they fall for it ...

Glad you read this and thought about it for what it was --- a metaphor of what this company has become, a garage. That is all it is now. I have 30 years associated with HP. I walked away a few years ago mad but now I am more hurt that the rich get richer. It isn't about engineering (Dec and HP). It is about the dollars and they will put some $3.5M into that little crappy garage we all wanted to see and wanted to work in Bill and Dave's office that they will sell. The only thing that made HP great were the people we worked with.

It's a squirrel. A distraction.

The garage is a tool for management to use cynically in comms with staff. I am ex EDS, none of us give a flying f*** about the bloody garage. Maybe if we'd been treated as something more than an unwelcome overhead we might think differently.

I think it's a metaphor.

This doesn't pass the smell test. Why would HPE - not HP - own the HP garage?
