What is going on at the corporate retail stores? Assistant managers feel like they are having to fight to keep their jobs, meaning a lot more coaching, writing people up and such. They are not replacing any full time employees that leave.

Working at AT&T is horrible. I'm out as soon as I find another job.
The COR retail locations are in the process of being flipped to dealer after the holidays. National Retail will be left on life support by not being supported with a face to face sales force as we have today. Online sales, select COR locations, minimal National Retail and the remainder will be Dealer. Why? The massive amount of headcount / salaries / benefits will be reduced to a fraction of what's left today. Sad but true.
How you know and what is time period
The plan is quite simple, think Apple. They want presence with one big store in an area. You will come to the store.....like Apple. Your options will be Authorized Retail, Online or National Retail.
AT&T wants out of the retail biz, the cost, the union, ect............
If you're in COR the hourglass has been turned over and time is ticking, the plan to eliminate is more transparent than Indirect. Stay ahead of the curve, lots of people were blindsided with Indirect, one minute they were excited for cross training, next minute they were on their a--.

Retail is expensive. Salaries, benefits. AT&T does not want to be in the retail business anymore.
Be prepared: if you have followed our 2020 initiatives closely enough you know about project white space. We are going to start handing COR stores off to dealers and/or closing them. We are only keeping the cream of the crop (big barns, flagship, HQ and stores of the future). They're preparing for it by not backfilling. Same thing they have done for the past two indirect surpluses.
