I am an ex-Verizon employee who stays in contact with my former coworkers. Verizon has rifs all the time . I was rif'd last year. There was a big rif today in IT. I personally know several people who lost their jobs today. This is not some made-up fairytale! I lived it and a lot of other Verizon employees have been affected.

I have been Verizon for 10 years and the lay offs are true. Happen constantly. The reason the lay offs are not in the news Verizon lays off small numbers across multiple states and dept's and yet it is constant lay offs so if Verizon lays 300 people in one pay period and another 300 the following pay period it never makes the news.
I was a Verizon new college hire about 4 years ago. It was a great starting job but this company is a meat grinder. I was fortunate having worked as an IT contractor to help pay for school so I had seen a few work environments but it was amazing how crappy vz treats its employees. I learned a ton and lots of people on the low end of the pole were nice and willing to teach. My building started with 5 new-hires same as me. 2 left in the first year, 1 was riffed, 1 still works there and one left after their 401k vested. Hr actually contacted me asking why they had such trouble retaining millennials and the woman remarked that "we have no company loyalty" I responded and said loyalty must be earned and vz has shown us that they have no loyalty to us or our older coworkers, we are young but not stupid. I handed my two weeks in about a month later. I still keep in contact with some of the people I worked with but I now work in a much better environment for similar pay and benefits

My buddy was layoff yesterday.
out of the 22 new hires in our Org none of them remain.
about half of them left, and the other half were riffted.
i keep track of their painful track on this company. Working on IB before, i can honestly said, this people are more treacherous
I never see anything about RIFs at Verizon on the news, so it must not be happening.
BTW, does anybody know if Hillary is still winning the presidential race. Last I saw on the news, she was way ahead (..... comment dripping with sarcasm of course)
