The fervor over Agile methodology has hit an embarrassing new high in VZ. Agile Day, seriously? Does anyone still buy into this nonsense?
Show me any successful shop that focuses strictly on Agile and disregards waterfall concepts. Change is inevitable is the Agile cry. That's an obvious statement that serves only to perpetuate itself. The reality and struggle for VZ is that good design is challenging, while coding is comparatively easy.
We move into a world of embedded systems, where tasks become constant, specific, and distributed. Agile becomes less relevant by the day. Even on Agile Day.
At some point a DevOps team was created under the umbrella of Agile. DevOps -- it sounded like a fun buzz word and a way to move up the ladder. A staff with dubious operations experience began placing systems in the public cloud under direction of developers. We'll see how that goes!
