Choosing not to renew a contract is not a layoff. The contract is over. Usually contractors are paid more than employees because they take on greater risk of cessation of employment.
Many contracts end Dec. 31 so I would absolutely expect every renewal to be scrutinized, and in some cases rejected.
A contractor should always have an up to date CV and an iron in the fire.
Do not accept any packages without employment lawyer as u will not get best package without their knowledge
Any of these include the FTE's who were recently demoted as team leads?
Not only contractors. Up to another 500 FTE employees
Seems like Northern Gateway will be tanked this week and Enbridge already cleared its offices related to project in Vancouver and asked people to work from home... might be related to other talks of contractor not getting contracts renewed

My company got informed last week that they will not renew some contractors for next year. I don't know yet if I will be one of them or survivor for this round!!!!
OP, how reliable is this info?
Figured this would be the next step...any indication when in December?
