On the wireless side, seniors are sold high priced data plans, accessories and special features when all they want is a phone that they can make a call on in the case of an emergency. On the landline side of things, seniors are sold packages that include internet, even though they don't own a computer, tablet or smart phone. Often they are sold television packages that include premium channels or whole house dvr equipment when all they watch is the local news. Now with the transition from copper to fiber, for senior citizens who only have home phone service with Verizon, these long time customers who have in many cases been paying $50-$100 per month to Verizon for the past 30+ years are being kicked to the curb. These senior citizens are receiving letters from Verizon telling them that they can have their home phone switched to fiber or their service will be shut off by a certain date. On top of that, many of these seniors that are agreeing to the change over to the fiber network are being sent battery backup equipment through the mail post install that Verizon is asking them to install themselves. How many 70, 80 or 90 year old men and women do you know that would feel comfortable climbing up on a ladder and using a drill to install their own equipment? When is the Public Utility Commission going to step in and stop this immoral and dangerous position that is being taken by Verizon?

Hello lowell, Shampoo and Stuffin here also. I could not see your post because my eye sight is going the way of the business (wink wink). Stuffin is reading this to me now. We are not sure why anyone is unhappy here. Scotty said maybe we should change the company name to "We Are The Champions" what do you think?

Verizon is largely deregulated in the states it still serves. The PUCs and PSCs have little authority anymore. Just like they have zero control over CATVs. Just like they have zero control over wireless.
Like your senior leadership told you, we need less regulation, the market will take care of us because we are the better choice.
Verizon is no longer "the provider of last resort" in 99% of its service area. The mouths here have written checks that they cannot cash. Wireless is the savior, they preached for years.
In buiness a leader must lead by example. And vz leaders are doing just that.
How many work here and b!tch daily about this place yet still cut a check every month to this place?

Lowell here. I must say I am a senior citizen and I treat myself just fine. Remember, we are transforming the business during challenging times and someone has to take the fall. It's not going to be shareholders.
Also, I told Francis to knock off that two weeks for every year crap. I mean this isn't a charity. We will continue to provide cardboard boxes free of charge though. I guess. Maybe the board should vote on that one.
