177,700 - 162,000 = 15,700 given the boot in 2016 so far. Thanks Lowell!
To those saying doesn't include divestitures - so what? Your saying its better to be sold off than laid off? Headcount is headcount. Verizon is not a job creator anymore end of story.
It's not all about quantity, it's more about who is gone. There should be more people let go, unfortunately they're all at director level and above, which will never happen.
Look around IT and you can figure out who replaced those Rifs. What do you even tell your kids these days other than start their own business. The corporate STEM jobs are being handed to foreigners, they can't even wait until the people who built the systems retire, have to boot them out the door in their fifties and at Christmas no less. So glad there are companies that don't do that. We have had a nice year with that whole wicked mess in the rear view mirror and better days ahead. Best wishes to those newly Rifed.
Verizon's officially reported number of current employees is 162,000 worldwide.
Technically, all those they fired last year were on payroll until the end of 2015. So I don't think they are on the chart yet.
Interesting chart. Supposedly they laid off 20,000 people last year but the numbers look flat. Does that mean that they hired as many millennials as the 45 year old + employees that they fired?
Looks like less associate overhead to me!
Yes in fact I am, just got the news. Merry Christmas!
Provide me an EISP and I'm gone myself.
It doesn't
Did the chart account for divestitures? Probably not
