What do you all think about Ralph de la Vega retiring? Is it because of where At&t is heading?

Ralph hit the age ceiling. Even if he was asked to go, he's not going to be hurting financially.

I think Stankey is the golden boy, I expect he will be tapped as CEO when Randy slithers out the door with his pockets full.

Yes they always call it a retirement when they are told to leave.

do you really think the "next" person - Kelly King - is going to be any better? He cares only about numbers that make him look good - nothing else

Ralph is (force) retiring because of his age - if he were allowed to continue, he would. His retirement has nothing to do with anything else!

65 years old & 42 years service, add it up = time to go.

Thank God. de la Vega was awful to work under. He was a big reason why AT&T got rid of so many programmers.

Ralph is retiring because he's frustrated with where the company is headed. He sees his shady boss star struck and focused on content and less on connectivity. Taking his golden parachute. I'm jealous.

Screwed by AT&t In Feburary, when they shuffled its executive ranks to move de la Vega from mobile to the business and international operations. Which includes the next to fail Mexican venture. And they rewarded the retarded John Stankey, who previously ran AT&T's DirecTV, internet and U-Verse TV units, took over the mobile operations,

I was surprised when the announcement came out and too was skeptical why he is retiring at a rather odd time with all that is happening. He said he wouldn't be with us through the merger but will be watching closely. Hmmmmm...

He is 65 after all and has probably risen as high as he will go in T. Why not take the golden parachute and enjoy your millions? He probably gets great healthcare for life as a perk of upper management.
