Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Employee engagement survey results high grades

Employee participation in the company’s employee engagement survey has exploded recently, high grades in all categories, So it’s no surprise that DiversityInc named AT&T the company No. 1 on its ERGs specialty list

“When employees know they matter as individuals, anything’s possible,” Marshall said. “It’s reassuring beyond words to know that virtually all of our employees know they matter.”

The surveys are a total joke. We were bombarded with emails from corporate as well as our manager to fill out the "survey". Being forced to take a survey? Really? The group that I work for are always slammed with work and we don't have time for this nonsense. All of the bogus surveys, appraisals and other fodder that we have to do is just stupid, time wasting and in the grand scheme of things, b.s. During the last survey, something had happened with a process that we have to follow (that made no sense at all) and I was dealing with a ticked off in house employee and I had to stop helping that person as I got an "you need to take the survey now" email and an IM from supervisor. I took my anger out on the survey and spoke the truth but wrote it so that no one knew it was me. I was a detractor. LOL!!! I suggested very easy and logical solutions to some issues, that wouldn't cost anything but would improve the situations and processes, I was still a detractor. I am done with the nonsense. Waiting until after the end of January and I am bailing. It's just sad that a company that was once a great place to work has turned into a joke.

Leadership bonus' used to be tied to participation numbers. Not sure if scores were factored in. And not sure if they are still compensated at all with any aspect of them.

Would love to know.

Supervisors get their yearly bonus based on the results. Isn't.?

These surveys mean absolutely nothing, it's just another mannerism in which our executives can gloat.

If I was a leader who really wanted to look under the hood, I'd be curious to know the high performing detractors that ended up on the surplus list. People who've earned awards, KP awards...I can think of three people in the last year - who fits - awarded, key performers, detractors and surplused.

The encouraging thing though is that those who know longer fit in ATT's culture like the above were snatched up pretty quick. I know of one guy whose salary doubled. He's at more than 200k - in direct competitor. And doing things ATT wasn't interested in when he was there - but who are now copying his work at ATT.

I say that to say don't be discouraged. There are alot of success stories. But those people don't typically look back. They've moved on.

But if you've still got your Mojo (or can get it back), passionate about work that was taken from you - you can rebuild again. There are companies that are looking for the passion and innovation that no longer fits at T.

No, T does not think it's workers are happy.

They just don't care. There must be certain goals for outsourcing, benefit cuts and head count reduction, those are what is important.

They pretend all is well because what other choice do they have, it is just a part of the PR program of lies .

Worker happiness is very low on the list of things that are important.

We had meetings prior and were told how to score and almost what to say.

The original poster is probably one of the ultimate s---ups

The company thinks people are stupid. Reality is the managers were told to score high or say goodbye.

Guess how many said no?

AT&T absolutely knows who is and isn't completing the survey and who is and isn't a "promoter". You're guaranteed on the surplus list if you're a detractor! They only want happy, smiling, employees working. Like robots. Smile!

manipulating surveys by telling employees what to write OR how to score should be a punishable offense and absolutely not tolerated.

The ethics officer should be all over this one. this is how culture is easily destroyed.

Results are absolutely manipulated. We were told by managers to score well and if we had anything negative to say to just put it in the comments. They stated that the scores helped determine if we hire, which has been a long time for the center I work in. They also sent out a list to managers of those people who had not completed it wanting it done. All surveys through at&t are awful, even customer surveys and their ACE survey system are a joke, but I won't rant about those here.

Our managers kept badgering us to fill it out even when I said I didn't want to. This survey is crap. The company really doesn't want to know how we really feel.

Managers stood and watch us fill ours out, not only that but everyone knows nothing is "Anonymous " at T!

It's been a red flag. Somewhere on this site some gave advice on how to show your manager that you completed the survey without actually submitting it just reporting that you completed when you didn't.

These surveys are supposed to at will and totally anonymous but my last manager wanted to make sure everything be submitted and needed a count. I know of one leader who "provided guidance" to their direct reports on what to write in the open ended sections.

So yeah..these aren't scientific or accurate.

The survey sounds like election results in a banana republic, voter turnout was 110% and 125% of the votes were in favor of the dictator and his henchmen did the counting.

This should be a red flag to stop being honest in those surveys, Randy is watching.

The NPS Survey is a joke! I love the question that asks if you would recommend At&t to a friend or relative as a great place to work. How can that question be answered when the call center has not hired anyone in over a year, and the staff ratio keeps shrinking? I tended to be very honest in my NPS Survey answers.

Maybe that's why I am gone now ! Could not be happier!

Just take a look at the dtv launch. This is symptomatic of a larger cultural issue. I can't wait for the press to connect the dots. The engagement survey "doctored" results seeks to get ahead the press and large shareholders checking under the hood.

I hope a really smart journalist starts to see what's going on here.

Just another sham, like the customer comes first, skills pivot and the AT&T cloud.

A big empty bubble that Randy hopes will stay inflated until he gets his golden parachute.

Lol....that's the farthest from the truth ever! They always want the unknowing public to think they treat their employees great and they matter....anyone that works at AT&T knows the real truth the only thing that matters to them is 💰💰💰💰 not people!!!

hilarious.

JD Powers Award, Randy's CEO of the Year (Dallas), and now the highest NPS employee engagement surveys ever??

This really is amazing being that most know they're either targeted and as a result don't fill them out or respond glowingly given their desperation to keep their job topped off with ATT totally ignoring "detractors" as the problem. This is how you end up with flawed results and more pixie dust and make beleive.

Randall is a genus at these shape shifting games.

They must have sifted through the results and only posted the ones by A-- s---ing pussies. This company is a cesspool of piss poor leadership. It's the most toxic environment that I have ever seen. Full of backstabbing, lying, disengaged, and completely uninformed (mostly from landline) management. A bunch of completely clueless a--holes led by that d--k riding glory hole Randall!!!
