Thread regarding Follett layoffs

You all don't see big picture

All of you are so narrow minded. Pat usher. Bob Scholl. Carol winter all survived Don G. He came and brought Kmart people. Kmart failed. Sears is horrible. This was all on hiring him. He got rid of so many people. Now you want to blame the people who had to put up with him. He gave us the worst year ever. I lost my job but I always felt the support. Bob was awesome. You guys need to point at Kmart people

Whoa there "Unemployed"! I have known all three of them since the first day they began their careers at FHEG. You are either off your medication or totally delusional. From his first day at FHEG, Scholl has done nothing for the stores. All he has done was to continually position himself as close as possible to those in higher management in the Home Office. Wear nice suits and say yes. His sole purpose was for him to be seen as Steve Pyrbil's heir apparent if and when Steve left. One would think that after Steve's "forced" retirement that Mr. Scholl would have seen both the writing on the wall and had the courage to resign. Mr. Scholl has brought absolutely nothing to the table during his career. Lets move onto Ms. Winters. From day one she has been obnoxious, crude and shown nothing but a negative attitude towards store personnel and those who did not agree with her. She has maintained a history of belittling and embarrassing not only her staff (just look at the turnover rate of her department) but store personnel as well. Anyone who has been on a store visit with her will attest to my comment on that topic. Over the years she has survived by working for Presidents who either didn't care about what she was doing or were intimidated by her. It's sad but she is probably as nasty in her personal life as she in at work. Finally, Mr. Usher. It's important to remember that he is "family". It's important to remember that the every dollar that he spends or saves has a direct impact on the "family" coffers. During his tenure one only has to look at the gains/losses of contracts. He allows a direct report to live far outside the territory long considered to be the most competitive and most saturated with FHEG accounts. One only has to look at the old profitable accounts that have been lost due to the lack of interaction between a Marketing VP and his business contacts. What's that old saying? "Figures don't lie but liars do figure". Marketing to higher education is not the same as selling insurance or used cars. Unfortunately Mr. Usher has either not learned that or is unwilling to change.

Forgot to add Sanjeev Singh and some of his directs who spent millions on failing projects.

They just bought Valore. Valore employees beware! No money for employees, but money for $$$$purchases

Based on Bobs attitude during the webinar, I would say he is all in with the employee abuse. He doesn't give a crap. They were all infected by the Kmart style of management. It's like a disease.

If things were going well, who'd get the credit? The family? Nope. Part of being in charge is being in charge. If the family dictates employees are to be abused, it's not one's job to abuse employees. It's management's job to run the company well. That isn't being done. Employees are being abused by a company that isn't well run. Who is culpable? The abuser is (and to an extent, the soon to be abused).

So you blame them. Ha, their job is to make family members money, not themselves. That's what everyone's job is at follett. They are ultimately told what to do. Very sad how much anger you have. Tough times in our market. Don lead us in wrong direction. Trying to make up for it by letting people go. I got cut. Unfortunate. But you are still dwelling. Apparently they cut benefits. Instead of cutting people. For the family. Get a grip.

We're cutting your pay. We're taking your benefits. Does it feel better that the only ones in favor of this are KMart execs? Legacy follett execs think this is a bad idea. They thought firing long term employees was a bad idea, too. They thought abusing long time employees was a bad idea. You have a great advocate in this crew. They lose every fight. They'll never win. We don't care if it makes you feel better, because we're doing it anyhow.

BTW- Carol and Bob have a terrible time at the forced company parties. You know, the ones at Stanford or in Indy or in Minnesota or Chicago.

Nope, this broader view doesn't much help

Oh...I see it pretty clearly. In order for the over paid executives to keep their jobs. They must do what ever it takes to hit their numbers. That has been made very clear.
