Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Have business contacts been told?

When things come up after our shift, who deals with them?

Seriously, I really need to know the plan, as I will have to let my staff, the school, others know.

When staff calls out sick on your day off, normally I would find another person or go in myself if I felt the coverage was necessary. Who is going to stop what they are doing on their day off and deal with that as of Nov. 27.? Not the manager, as now we will not, not allowed, to work off the clock, so who?

If the alarm company calls in the middle of the night, or something happens that needs immediate attention??? Who is the go to person? Who is on call 24 hrs a day if it isn't the manager?

My campus is not going to like it if the store can't get open for what ever reason because I am off the clock.

For those over the threshold, how is it saving the company money if they say we can and should use overtime and it is expected we end up with the same at the end of the year. If that is true, why do this? If I work a 42.5 hr week I am losing over $100 each paycheck(gotta dock out for lunch). That's $400 a month. I am already living paycheck to paycheck. So the extra hours I get for 2 rushes that is going to make up for it?

Other than those 2 times a year I don't need to work a 60 hr week. So in the summer when we aren't open 40 hrs I will sit in my office pushing papers?

NYC Regional told a manager of a small 1 person store to close store for half hour break for lunch. What does that say about customer service.

I will have to work 135 hrs in a year to match current salary. They expect about 100. Someone at the h.o. Doesn't know how to do math. Oh, they've done the math! That 35 hours of OT is going right into the family's dividend checks - from you and all the other employees. Remember who fked you over when you vote. Who gave the family the tools to fk you over? Who helped the rich get richer? Don't think for a minute that this change was meant to help the little guy.

According to my regional, when you are not scheduled and off the clock you ignore work. Lunch, take your break and leave the store so you are not bothered. No phone calls, text, etc from staff.

I thought Follett at least cared about campus relations. Guess not.

I swear, if someone calls out on a Saturday I am giving them my regional s number.

Also, was told there is no o.t. except when home office expects there to be, rush, buyback, ctc.

What about texts/phone calls from your staff after hours or on your day off? Bill an hour for each!

They are going to have to give us some control of our timecards when a lot of our time is spent offsite or away from their network to be able to login.

You still have the same responsibilities. If a shift needs to be covered or the alarm goes off you get paid overtime for it. That's how I understood it.

I understand how you feel. We, as mangers, have taken 100% responsibility to our stores, campus, staff. This is going to take a lot to learn to not care. Just because Follett doesn't give two shots, we are not programed that way. Now we need to show them what a mistake they are making. Every meeting I have ever been to, the ones above always comment the exportable of being on the front line. Guess that concern is out the window.

If alarm goes off and no plan is set...let the police handle it! Your hourly, if school is mad because someone didn't show for a shift..forward that email above you. Your hourly that's that!

Why would you care... I'm serious, your only responsibility is to assume JUST your responsibilities. You are hourly now. It doesn't matter to Follett ...which is obvious in communication and how they handled this. So stop worrying about it! It's off your back.
