I got into 900k T stock, last December in my regular brokerage account, so my cost basis has not gone into the red yet. But I consider myself an injured party, with the share value price going down adversely on the merger news. I had been hoping to sell after a year for a profit at a long-term capital gains rate. Well, my potential profit I can see slipping away like a grasped handful of grains of sand going through one's fingers. We'll see how much is left in my hand when it is time to jettison the stock after holding it a year. Frankly, I feel both blindsided and betrayed by this backroom deal with no stock holders allowed the common decency of a vote. I bought T (notwithstanding its acquisition of "DIRECTV") as a telecommunications company, not as a media conglomerate.

OMG, 1nlg...you are out of control!!! again, this is the house that ATT created so there shouldn't be much of a surprise. But you and the guy who uses "dummy", idot et al. in just about every post need to be blocked. Again, when leadership comes on this forum, they see crazy imploding - it discredits the good points people are making.
As for this shareholder, you don't know his/her LT strategy or whatever else he/she's diversified in. he/she is a SHAREHOLDER. And regardless again of STRATEGY and POSITION I welcome all of them. I for one would like to know what larger holders and institutional investors are thinking - esp those with voting shares.
