ont trust this Dubnau guy who keeps trolling this site. He is a high paid union organizer. A salesman who will say anything. He lied to us in Brooklyn and kept saying what people wanted to hear. When the union was voted in, he and the union celebrated. Then he disappeared. He was not involved in negotiations. When we were forced out on strike, we tried to get rid of the union, but it agreed to the lousy contract before we could get to vote. Now we are stuck.

Funny cause i personally know Dubnau and he helped us in Everett MA get a contract. He doesn't just say anything and im sure he didn't lie to anyone in Brooklyn considering i know several people in the area i can easily have that verified. Im sorry you feel he vanished once the Union was voted in but he does not just walk away he's been in touch with Everett members ever since. I will say i did hear rumors that some people wanted out of the Union and im assuming you were one of them who also crossed the picket line. Not sure what you owe Verizon but i was out there for the 40+ days no paycheck at all and i have a family to care for. I never has second thoughts about striking and i would do everything the same again because it was the right thing to do. This company screws its workers over left and right every chance they get. For a very profitible company they sure like to piss and moan when workers try to get their fair share. Union is there to help us whether you think so or not, if the results aren't what you want don't blame the Union as they're doing everything they can to fight for us while the blame should be directed at VZW who continues pouring money on bad investments all while giving Lowell and his share holders increases and bonuses that were earned off the back of the frontline who continue to get buried and buried and buried. Just remember as we head to the holidays how many call centers are being closed and how many positions are being eliminated in stores all this after they waste money on Yahoo and AOL. And at the end of the day it will be the frontline that will be held accountable for unforgiving quotas. WAKE UP

The 2003 Layoff Clause would not apply to a freshly negotiated contract for VZW. Get your facts straight.

@1hzf, good luck with Trump, who thinks that the American worker's wages are too high and that losing a billion dollars in one year and then sticking the working guy with the tax bill " makes me smart".

Why email the Union? They are sunning themselves in Boca Raton with your hard earned dues. Do you call mommy every time something goes wrong in life? That is the last group I would contact, it's members are such losers.

IBEW out of Boston endorsed Sanders and then like auto pilot, jumped up the Beeches fat azz. Now knowing how those who supported Sanders never had a chance of their votes being counted due to the corruption within the DNC, the morally bankrupt IBEW would not stand to call the DNC out and still kept their support up the beeches azz. I have news for the IBEW, more than you could even imagine, will not be voting for that criminal you support. As far as you? Well.. If the Foo Birds p--ps... You and your Commie union lackys can rot in h e double toothpicks.

Hey eft, so when was that WE negotiated a contract? All I remember was you negotiated a contract for us... With multiple "Carve-outs" that made sure we'd pay your dues, but not get the same as you. And you negotiated layoffs into the agreement, so we got in and got cut.

"But we'll negotiate more for you in the future", all lies. We're still waiting.

Great idea.....email the union. The union does $hit for its current members, come join us. Yes, we did get a contract but at what expense? The union left its laid off members hanging out to dry, gave in to further health care increases and on the job harassment continues now more than ever. If you are post 2003 you are no more than a bargaining chip. New members are being hired at a lesser wage, no pension, no job security and expensive healthcare rates. It's only a matter of time before another surplus is declared and the rest of the post 2003 are laid off if they don't take the eisp.

But if we all were unionized as the Union wanted us to be, we would have been so big and strong that there would have been no layoff clause per contract. We would have been in complete control. As they said would be. We said no.

By the way, how did that union protection work out for the Manhattan Operations Support Center that was closed prior to the 2011 strike, or for the 40+ techs that were laid off in Pittsburgh? No union protection post 2003. Do your homework.

I had better raises before being in a union. Negotiated raises benefit the slackers. I prefer merit based raises. And there is no layoff protection for union hires post 2003. Do your homework.

These last two posters are either stupid, or more likely anti union shills from BR. Don't you realize that if you unionize you will negotiate your contract with Cerizon? So to say that they won't have certain protections because they were hired after 2003 is not true.

Like the last couple of posters have stated, if you join the union now you get squat. All the union cares about is dues for anyone who is not Verizon Core. If you joined the union post 2003, you have no layoff protection. All the union is at this point is another hand in your pocket.

Why? So they can be treated as well as the former MCI techs? The Union hasn't done sh-- for them and refuses to help them in any way... Ask what's left of them if you can find one.

The union only cares about the greater whole, and son, you ain't it.

Everyone I've personally spoken to that works for VZW doesn't want to join the union since you guys chose to boycott their stores (which impacted their bonus aka income) and screamed and cursed at them for crossing your line while they were trying to go to work. While the tactic worked at helping to convince the Exec's to push for a better contract, it also backfired in that it sealed the long term fate of the CWA's declining membership rates.

Also VZW is made up primarily of people who were born after 1980. If anyone takes the time to look at how the CWA/IBEW negotiates they would realize the Union only cares about members that were employed by the company prior to 2003. They won't fall into this category.

I think it's too late now! However I regret not finding more out of the protection the union offers and trusting the company I'm busting a-- for. I learned a valuable lesson without a doubt.
