Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

True Colors

The company showed us how they really feel about AEs with this exempt to non-exempt b---s---. We have no DIRECT way to influence and drive our results. We can't hold anyone accountable and all we can do is train and cheer them on, yet we bust our asses to try to hit some outrageous targets that affects 30% of our pay. Meanwhile, the COR store managers AND ASMs (ASMs are non-exempt and will remain that way) got a $10,800 shift from commission into their base pay. The company basically said "F--- AEs...they can continue to struggle to pay their bills."

Some AEs work super hard and some go shopping at Target for their visits. Most are in between. I would never go back to being an ASM. Thankless job. AE job has always been hit with problems - layoffs because of incompetent or lazy directors ARSMs and AEs who ruin it for everyone else. With that AE who doesn't work all management has to do is check MyCoach and check with the stores how the AE does his or her job. Sounds like they don't care neither. AE has been a great job but it is coming to an end at some point. It's not as bad as many COR jobs but its not fun anymore and the phone calls are endless, early morning, late at night, 7 days a week. Most national retail people who call are dumb, rude and cont care that you're at the doctor or with your wife. They call until you answer and they are a punishment from God

Do you really think it's one job category that matters, look around its all job categories. guess you need to get busy on some training classes that will am,e you a programmer or engineer.

There ARE AEs that work, thank you very much. I log 4-6 store visits per day and drive 800 miles per week. My COR stores don't deal with dealer issues because I deal with them for them. I used to be an ASM so I know both sides of it. Base pay raise makes it pretty damn easy if you're in an underperforming store and there are plenty of those. You can at least discipline your people and drive results. All we can do is partner, train, motivate, rinse and repeat.

I'm glad they are stopping the extra pay for AE's , they have always been overpaid, they are no better than anyone else, I know one that walks the streets in Birmingham with his wife, that is also overpaid for doing nothing, . They need to close that downtown center. if they only knew what went on in there. NOTHING, lazy overpaid people.

Seriously? COR ASMs just lost 10,900 from their commission, which is a huge cut especially when WE actually work and hit our goals, now we'll be lucky to get a $200 comp check. And I'm sure we will be exempt come January too. Be thankful to have a job, since so many were recently surplussed. Nobody is forcing you to stay an AE. Move to COR if you think we have it easier cuz I can assure you, we don't . We have no work life balance, we don't get dinner with our families, we work until midnight during holidays, we deal with dealer store issues constantly ( maybe train them better). People are losing jobs left and right and you complain about still having a job with a shift in status? if I were you I'd be upset too, but be thankful you have a job with the way things are going in this company.
