IEFS-DFS Merging, TFS Update, Numbers Being Finalized

I heard from a reliable source that T is in the final stages of merging (on paper) Internet & Entertainment Field Services (Prem Techs) and DirecTV Field Services (DTV Techs). The Company plans on keeping a majority of Prem Techs vs. DTV Techs (about a 3:1 ratio). IEFS center staff will see a 15-20% headcount reduction (or more as DTV has their own staff to merge).

Technical Field Services (TFS) will also be seeing a headcount reduction of 10% across the enterprise. Center staff will see a 10-13% staff reduction and consolidation of operations.

It's likely notices won't start going out until the end of 1Q2017 as the merger is expected to happen in the 2nd quarter once the Company has had time to see how DirecTV Now has performed in the market.

@Jwx4Kve-sro: You're SOL. The cut is coming the first one will hurt a little, the next one will hurt a lot. :(

ATT is using the 2020 transition process to delay the loss of people who think they will be getting new roles. Sit back and think about the "new jobs" computer science based. how many people do you really think will be needed in ATT if all is wireless and a lot of the work is moved to contract help.

A joke in the executives circles is the 2020 pivot is a pivot out the door.

Will the surplus managers get an option to transition into their new 2020 roles or are we just SOL come next cut day?
