Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

How truthful

Most of what Is posted on here I believe is made up . So many just want to stir the pot. My center in the SE is doing great. We have an abundance of new hires and new managers. Back 2 back calls and overtime. People just keep ears and eyes open and be watchful

The person who created this thread must be an executive attempting to pacify us. If you're so safe why are you accessing this site? You know what, don't bother answering that...FY

First, I think you need some perspective. At one time, all of the centers closed were hiring and had call volume that they managed. As the overseas vendors, as well as the domestic vendors come online and are trained, no company-owned site will be safe from closure. If the company wants to outsource that line of business (which is decidedly cheaper than paying you and your pals benefits, salary, etc.), then it will and the inevitable will happen. Get your head out of the sand. The union will not SAVE your job. Our site is hiring too, as far as agents, but I have my doubts that there won't be some kind of surplus in the next year, Q1 or Q2. So instead of denigrating people who legitimately want answers or are able to provide information, why not just stay off the site and live in your little fantasy land. We realists will continue to help one another with information.

the reality is simple. Some centers are seeing growth and some are closing. ATT is moving work around and when they hire new people everyone gets comfortable thinking all is well. the reason for the adds in some areas and loss in others is the new hires do not get the advantage of seniority and when cut it cost ATT nothing. When people are downsized in the Midwest they must be offered a job but it can be in any state within the region makeup. Imagine having to move two states with no guarantee the job will remain.

Yes some SE centers are closing and some adding but that does not mean the SE is secure. the OP posting has his/her head in the sand thinking his view is universal. thinking every post is made up is foolish and at some point a shock will him them.

In my center we lost 32 people including managers. Union was offered jobs in another location and managers were not.

wake up.

Lots of centers closing tomorrow in the SE. You only need look at the CWA SE districts to see the reduction list. That however doesn't even take into account the managers that been surplus over last 12 months in these centers.

Congratulations! Our call center in the Midwest has had approximately 50 new hires this year, surplused managers earlier this year, have received no training in the last 6 months, and has etime daily. This isn't stirring the pot, but fact.

Any call center job can be outsourced. It's only a matter of time.
