Didn’t Verizon look to GE as the prototype world class FP&A team, and put plans in place to emulate that organization? Clearly, GE’s FP&A team missed the forest from the trees. Looks like another VZ leadership foley to follow that path, or were they just trying to keep their transformation jobs?
Time to change out those finance executives who sold that shiny bill of goods to the VZ board.

I think the OP hit the nail on the head. They are about to fill thousands of open jobs hiring low paid managers with either little working experience or filling the positions with workers brought in from India. At the same time they eliminating jobs, especially those existing employees fitting in the category above. This company is a disgrace and is complicit in handing over American jobs to an imported workforce. Time to change up the executive floor, these leaders are playing 'follow the leader' and are all stale.

That said - given their most recent screw up of buying Yahoo, they may not be long for this world either. Then again, it really was being positioned to be sold to Google at some point anyway.
I was a CPA and my job eliminated in Finance. Guess those bogus entries for Fran were not good enough.
FP&A is an over populated group of spreadsheet preparers. All creating the same data as the next group in the next row of cubes. A big spreadsheet factory is the name of the game.
"the new guy" is a Chartered Accountant from England. Same thing as a CPA. However, the 'New Guy', unlike Fran, is not only smart and personable, but actually respects the people who work for him. Too bad he didn't replace Fran five years ago.

I'm so sorry for those impacted. When I was RIF'd in December I saw a lot of jobs posted in that org. Sad. Anyone know how many impacted and from where?
