Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

16years 3rd layoff and all right at Christmas. Thanks att. Glad I could be forced to work every weekend and Holliday for you.

Yep forced to work every weekend and every holiday. Moved to 3 different depts learned new position and was held up to standereds and numbers or threatened with time off. Out of garage in 10mins ore all cust fix asap close from Prem ask cust anything I can do for you. Tell them your going to get a call about me showing up can you give me all 10's please. Then I will call you at end of day tho check and make sure everything is still work for you. All wearing the hottest close possible dark blue and black. Calling your boss every 1hr to keep informed. Companies motto should be I live the work and just happy to have a job!!! And your guilty until you can prove your self innocent. Well 16yrs of all this is just to much. Just being a number told what you have done wrong everyday is just old. Use to love the job and all the men and women I worked with. When managers know the job and treated you like human and not numbers. No we have manager me that do not know our just and just babysit us. Just s---s because I love working with coworkers and really enjoy most customers, providing them with quality service. Treating them the way I want to be treated. But that's just not Att's policy.

Agreed, with the previous poster. And a Dr. once told me... this is just a job.

AT&T is being overrun by a call center mentality of over watch of every step to run every aspect of the company - just roll with it, they are not managers, like you said babysitters, watch metrics with no clue on what you are doing.,, most of the managers don't understand when their techs/agents are gone, they will be gone also, just a matter of time. They can pat themselves on the back for poor people skills and following procedures that are stagnating to morale and efficiency and being part of the decline. No Worries, they will be out of a job soon too.

As the above poster states, dont let it grind you down, do your best, and plan ahead. These positions are not going to last forever, use the tuition reimbursement and make the commitment to a new skill. The company has some decent benefits, you have to use them while you can. The business is changing and you will need to cahgne too.

Please don't burn your guts over this mess. Take a step, however small, to improve your life today. Every time you turn your thoughts away from this grinding machine you win. You deserve to have a good life.
