CWA can only do so much .... try getting health insurance or a pension as good as working at AT&T. They dont lke to pay what they do . with out a union you would working for way less .

How are they notified?
Large corporations have failed America. They specialize in selling Americans products and services, while outsourcing and reducing benefits of US workers, AT&T last year, terminated my health care plans for retired employees, forcing us to join the non very affordable Obama care disaster, what the union did about this?....what about these hard working union people? I heard the union renewed the contract by 52% majority... not much said about us, the people that really fought for better contracts, and suddenly natural outbursts of rain, snow, and drought is to blame for layoffs and call center closures, the union is NUMB
Unions do what they do that because they have convinced themselves Americans are stupid.
AT&T In addition, hooking millions on entertainment and sports earns the networks unfathomable amounts of money that was taken for our benefits
the Union folks have the same punchline, we have the 40Hrs work week, we have vacation, we have blablabla, times have changed, is all about corporate greed and power

All unions are weaker now than they were 20 years ago, the big corporations and the politicians they own have been very successful in destroying the middle class.
CWA cannot force the company to not layoff. If you knew more about unions, you might know that.
The union is a bad joke with no punchline. It primarily is used by the dumb--ses that don't want to do the basic functions of their job. Not to mention the fact that the last contract was a bad joke, and appendix J is the dumbest thing ever accepted. What happens when more appendices like J are introduced? The union will just agree.....pathetic...

dont blame yourself for decisions HR make..these people can commit huge financial blunders that utlitimately results as a layoff to technicians and engineers.. while their stock is sold at a huge profit long before the fallout from bad decisions was made public ..Divorce yourself from these people ..find out what markets are emerging and concentrate on these new markets and skillsets which will be in demand. IF you're older it will be ALOT tougher because Age Discrimination is a reality..dont show your wrinkly face or your gray hair..concentrate on doing prototypes and join organisations that promote engineering skillsets for people who have been benched.
most of the time it's the decision and poor governance of higher powers (in addition to business malpractice) that puts good employees in a predicament....gathering yourself up with confidence and improving upon your skillset along with network, network, network with contacts and ppl is key
More reasons for pessimism, the declining union membership, at our local Union, I think most millennials are not posed to be employed with companies that layoff workers constantly,"they are not signing the blue card" The dominant story has been the death of unions
