Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Closing of call center

It's very frustrating as a long term management person that the Company closes your center and no one in upper management seems to care? I have been a reliable, loyal and dedicated employee for over 20 years and no one seems to want to give you another job with the Company. Very very frustrating! Had great results and great appraisals and can't seem to find another job within the Company.

On conference calls, no mention of the centers that are closing ...it's like the pink elephant in the room.

They also dont care if you get hurt on the job and can no longer do your job! They just simply let you go!

As if you didn't know this was coming! Ever since SBC's hostile takeover, they always threatened from the beginning they would pull all the jobs out of CA. They don't have to deal with the strict rules and guidelines of the CPUC, and salaries, wages are cheaper back east. At the same time, their motto of having a career is BS and there was a freeze on jobs for almost the 36 years I worked there. Sure, every once in a while, there would be available jobs, but then you'd never get out of the office because of metering. Pacific Bell was the epitome of customer service, and since their demise, SBC, the 'new AT&T took all the passion out of working for the tel. co. Worse, SBC/ATT were hypocrites and bigot to their own 'code of conduct.' I was on the original panel for 'cease and desist' in 1984, and since then, the tel. continued to defiantly disobey that oder. Code of conduct was implemented to ensure the integrity of both the rep and the co., but miserably fail to do so, as even today, the CPUC has continually fined them for same -- unethical sales. Good luck to all who are looking for a job. 49

Unfortunately unless you know a hiring manager or higher level really well you will not get another job within at&t once you are surplussed. The surplus is by design. The few i know that got a job within had a VP pulling strings for them. Focus on jobs outside the company. At& is a very toxic environment.

That's the way they work unfortunately. They don't give a crap about the employees, never did. I'm glad I got in my30 years. I signed the paperwork the day I had exactly30 years. I also took my money because I don't trust them.

Good luck

They will tell you all sorts of BS about getting priority for posted jobs.....blah blah blah. The truth is that you now wear the Scarlet S for Surplus and its time to immediately focus outside the company. Don't waste time internally unless you have a close friend whom is a hiring manager.

Ask me how I know....12 years with stellar reviews. Gone.

What region are you in and segment? We've been told for years that our low results will have the same fate (with less than 30 employees now we are ready) most are ERB eligible.

It's like upper mgmt knows they just don't want to pull the trigger. Very frustrating indeed not knowing either way
