Anyone have an Idea of what is actually happening? So far it's been 3 days of supposed "power outage" related outages affecting most states, supposedly power issues in Texas. I have a feeling the "power outage" excuse is just bs.

I must say building non redundant networks is a cost saving measure but you better pray to God nothing breaks, it isn't tied to 911 and/or theFCC isn't looking. Great job Randall. You're batting 1000. This sick culture is making money by being sick, but remember there is a long term price to pay for your foolishness.
This was due to a sewage backup at hq in dallas. It is a hot mess. The data center is flooded, hq smells like sh--, they have people working over time to get the hundreds of servers which host hundreds of mission critical applications running again. And yes this affects Telegence the billing/ordering system. TLG is the backbone for all the systems used to sell products. Yeah higher ups are pissed.
yup, But here’s where things get murky. AT&T supposedly has built-in redundancy, too. The company told this reporter more than three years ago that it was leasing space on the east-west route, presumably as backup for connections through the north-south route that it owns, al, paid by the STate,
Remember the outage last year in CA?, the City paid for a fiber redundant connection, and what they got? Even 911 was out for days, where is the PSC?.. What a joke
How much money did T, got fron the government to improve their facilities during the Katrina event? All that money went to our CEO family fund
After SBC bought us (legacy T) we were told that out center was to be closed and everyone moved over to a legacy S center across town. This went on for over six years and then this year, wham, the other center was closed and were moved to our center because the legacy S center had no building UPS, no generator backup and in general no disaster recovery infrastructure whereas our call center had all that plus more. The company's attitude now is if it ain't broke don't acknowledge it but it it breaks throw lots of money at it for a short term fix.
power outage caused by flooding in an aged data center. this isn't cover-up, this is is poor planning and disaster recovery. it's impacted all regions.

The reason no one was told is to keep downsizing of wireline quiet.
Don't believe it is you want but the same thing was done in another few states before office closings

Haven't seen or heard of any major outages. Can you provide some details. Wireless? Wireline? Video?
