Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Since there is not reliable info in the news...

Do we have any WF insiders here who can tell us if folks terminated here (the 5300 to be exact) were terminated over time or has this happened all of the sudden? Also, any additional detail would be helpful, e.g., were they provided severance pay, was any senior exec fired for this etc.

In my opinion, this episode indicates that there is a severe lack of oversight and risk management - just my two cents... Wells Fargo was one of rare banks that behaved moderately well during the downturn, and I hope this round of layoffs does not taint your reputation much.

Bankers in branches who hit sales targets could earn bonuses of $500 to $2,000 per quarter, while district managers could get $10,000 to $20,000 a year, according to six Wells Fargo employees.

Bonuses made a big difference in the paychecks of branch employees, whose base salaries often were about $30,000 a year. According to the bank, tellers are paid $12 to $16.50 an hour, depending on location and experience.

No, firings took place over many years. See the article below - also, the exec in charge walked away with a 125 mil bonus... No clawbacks

Not surprised in the slightest. I opened up an account with Wells Fargo then closed it and was charged $$ to take my money from them. I never felt comfortable having my funds with their bank, in part, because of the high pressure sales. They created the environment which resulted in this scandal and I blame them directly. Lastly, if anyone had taken the time to see how their employees in banking were being treated, one could tell the awful environment they worked in. Remember, a happy employee leads to greater productivity and happier customers. Wells Fargo failed miserably in this environment.

They were firing people for opening credit and checking and savings accounts mostly because they were not doing enough of it to meet WF sales quota but not for the act itself. So employees were committing identity theft, wire fraud, and forgery to open over 2 million accounts for about a 6 year period. Obviously, any terminations would not have severance and none of the people were "fired" except for Carrie Tolstedt who was the "Head of Community Banking" who was a Senior Group Executive VP who had to "retire." Also, Claudia Russ-Anderson who was the "Chief Risk Officer for Community Banking" who took a "personal leave" to never come back.

There are other even more devastating scandals, including employees, embezzling money, sεxual harassment, attempted rapes, practicing witchcraft to harass other employees and forging documents related to risk management for the company. That is the next big story.
