Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

As an employee, I called 800.331.0500 today.....

I called customer care today and reached someone in Tulsa, OK....very interesting call - the rep couldn't access his computer and asked me to do everything on the ATT app. I was trying to to do something (SIM CARD CHANGE) that couldn't be done on the app....he told me he couldn't help me since he can only help people walk through the app. Is this the future for our customers....no customer service at all?

What? T has horrible customer service?

Well, I'm sure the empathetic whiz-kids in the C Suite will get all that fixed up rikitik. After all, They're so good at managing employees and ensuring sky-high morale and a comfortable work environment for the T rank and file that I'm confident they'll take customer service to the same level.

Oh wait, they already have.

I have been through that earlier this year. There are 2 types of service for company owned phones. One allows backup and has good service. The other is do it yourself and no support.

They are doing what they are told, AT&T is pushing customer self-service and installs. Customer service and dispatches are just expense on Randy’s and Stanks spreadsheet. If you don’t generate revenue then too them you don’t add any value. They have not innovated anything that would have customers pay more for AT&T services. In commoditized industries customer service and front line workers are the differentiators. They are the face of the company and will help keep customers.
As far as digital life, it's 10 years behind now like AT&T TV. My guess is stanky is trying to sell it, I don't think they can find a buyer. I use to have it. Now i have RING security system, better and cheaper, even with an employee discount. $70 for the year with monitoring and video storage, then $50 homeowners’ insurance discount, cost me $20 a year.

Customer Care has gone so far downhill, and it's all because usually when you call you get a contractor ...when you get an actual att rep you get far better service. The contractors are rude too, at least the ones I've spoken to. Closing our call centers and moving them to India or Bangladesh is a bad move

Decline In digital life too. Waited like 4-5 mins on an intrusion alarm. I've had digital life almost 3 years. Never had that sort of alarm before and never had to wait so long.

I recommend trying the chat button on the web site, that has usually worked best for me. From what I have been told people staffing those centers are strictly instructed to make callers use the AT&T app to resolve troubles. They are monitored by supervisors and written up for any deviance from protocol.
