I am hearing all C level stores will be migrated to indirect or shut down. A new store design is about to launch designed to occupy 1,500 sq ft space or less and basically be a "showroom" for products and then purchased online. This will dramatically reduce employee headcount needed to run one of these new stores and minimize inventory needs making these stores worthless as targets for robbery or break ins as this has been an ongoing issue. These new showroom stores with their greatly reduced headcount, smaller footprint and overall lower operating costs are the future of retail for Verizon. Smart Store design has been stopped and no more will be built.
Can anyone confirm this rumor? Seems pretty ominous but probably true and brick and mortar is dying out.
