Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T Layoff Ridiculousness

When you work for a company for over 2 decades and pour your entire life into it and make it you life, then get told your job could be on the line because their are cuts. Then you find out the next week that AT&T is looking to purchase COX entertainment group to enhance their Portfolio, and the CEO screwed up on the T-Mobile Merger and lost 4 Billion dollars and still has a job?? I think we might need to look at maybe cutting his job first and save the little guys jobs and shop for a better CEO so we can all thrive as a large strong company as we used to and still be marketable and strong without Randall Stephenson.

And now T mobile is eating our lunch with subscriber growth. I wonder were they got the money to invest so they could finally compete. Oh with RS wrote em a check and gave them spectrum they needed. How does he keep his high paying job with all its perks and the lowly employees get surplused?

Big AT&T own growth failure is now based on adquisitions, clearly denotes a misguided vision , while Misgauging Strategic Fit in my opinion, The senior group failed in Getting the Deals Structured correctly, i. e DTV was priced Wrongly, as they were not Communicating clearly to stock holders and employees.

Their failure in misreading the New Company’s Culture and Blindly Focusing On Integration For Its Own Sake, with high levels of debt and reling heavily on luck and company name, not agood thing.

I believe the worst thing you can do is have a sales drop-off immediately after the acquisition, which is all too common given confusion among the newly-merged team and the customer base, because you can never make up those lost sales, now they are counting on the new streaming service will make up for all the screw ups performed by the actors, Knowing the paramount importance of uninterrupted revenue, looking for a new merger with Time Warner.

The first thing the parent company ought to do in concert with the acquired-company team is get out in front of customers, tell them what’s going on, and reassure them, "None of this happened", As with the acquired company’s staff, with their customers, in the absence of clear communication, rumors and negative assumptions will fill the void, "none of this happened", So get out in front of your newly acquired customers, tell them they’re still loved, and provide them with a clear, comfortable, consistent and honest story, "none of this happened"

I am concerned about the dedicated long term and current workforce future and their careers with such explosive misguided vision mix

Not that it matters though...Randy gave 8 BILLION away in the Tmobile deal. 4 billion cash. and 4 billion in valued spectrum. Some analysts are saying the value of the spectrum might be closer to 9 billion.

Its a great idea. I've been saying it for FOREVER. I don't understand why the concept of CEO and Chairman hasn't PIVOTED. Everything he does is virtually un-vetted and unchecked. There is little to no accountability.

He lasted so long because he is one of the best salesmen I've ever seen. I notice how when this board heats up and even other media agents start to poke and prod, weird stuff happens in the news: "JD Powers awards". An award that's essentially paid for by the recipient in licensing and branding fees. And "rumors" of acquisitions that's fed to the press by his minions to reinvigorate the shareholders and by extension, the stock.

All these little superficial games get played while STILL NO REAL WORK IS BEING DONE. All the effort it takes to have these side circus pony shows selling pixie dust to everyone could be spent CREATING SOMETHING!!

The entire Board of Directors needs to resign and Randall Stephenson needs to be fired. He is incompetent. His next career should be in government where his abilities in piling up debt would be useful.
