I hope the board sees what he's doing to the company before it's too late. Chasing content is a bad idea. We should be focusing on what we do best: connecting people. There are too many content providers and it'll result in a "war on drugs" situation that we'll never win.

Dividend in trouble as interest rates go up...overvalued stock
I am thinking YAhoooooooooooop
His a-- should have been fired for the failed TMobile deal. Anyone that has been in wireless for 10 or more years did not see the Feds letting this deal happen. He and his minion managers have made this whole company a hostile work environment. Why should he care to what happens to anyone in the company unless it affects his bonus. As for the CWA it has lost its balls. I would like to see the under the table deals they made to get these sh--y health and employment contracts approved by members maybe if we stop paying dues they will listen to the members.
Stock dividends is the reason Randy still has support of the board.
The stock "performs" based mostly on his old hat tricks and used car tactics and dog and pony show. He's one of the most prolific spin doctors I've ever seen. He's got an alternative reality and pixie dust for just about every otherwise negative event. That's apart of his charm.
Ultimately it will be the stockholders that force the board's hand. As long as the stock is performing, he has free reign. As soon as the stock starts tanking, he'll be forced out.
Enormously negative...I think the more damage he causes the less attractive it will be to an internet company (or any innovative entity for that matter.)
But its almost a sickness. He really believes that he's one hit away from taking the company to the next level. He keeps promising investors that its coming. So when are the investors going to start asking questions? Whats the threshold of bulls#hi@t?
He can keep blaming "talent" and that he can't find enough really smart people. But when will the board see HIM as the systemic problem?
Randy has decided he wants att to be google. That's all he is focused on. I think the next couple years will have a very negative effect on this company.
I work in the Boyer organization under a book I will not name. We have been downsized three times since merger. When will this stop? Leadership robotically implements Randy's orders. Officers can't even make decisions for themselves. When will this end?
Johnny and charisma in same sentence? Good one.
Everything happening and the decisions at AT&T these days are not for the benefit of the future. Instead, these decisions are to fatten the paychecks of the Company Officers before they retire.
This is no longer about the customers, the stakeholders, or employees. Just greed from the top to collect as much as they can before they are out.
I think content/new media could work but not with Randy/Johnny/Ralphie leading it. No disrespect they are nice men with a lot of charisma, but this game is way over their heads.
And allowing a CEO to also become Chairman is a dangerous proposition, because Randy is basically answering to himself and bs'ing the board. And Randy is a great salesman. He sells better than most. But new technology is not his thing.
But the ego will cause him to ride the company into the ground. Still selling the board on the next shiny object...
Randall is the CEO and the JOKE of the year, He really does look like the JOKER, the Venetian character in Italian commedia dell'arte represented as a foolish old man wearing pantaloons, and a big mouth
We used to connect people, and we did it good, five nines reliability (ie) %99.999 in service. Now "leadership" wants to be a media/content company at the expense of doing what we do best. OK. ...Hey Randell, guess what company customers get mad at when their Netflix/Hulu/Amazon/Google Play/Apple Music/Pandora/Sound Cloud stream is buffering or unavailable?
I think netflix et al have figured out what customers want. Let us get back to what we can do best. Dumb pipes aren't sεxy but they are necessary, real damn necessary.
Randell's lack of technical knowledge was disturbing to read about in the newspaper. To watch Randell, by his own accidental admission in a town hall meeting about learning what "spectrum" is, should be terrifying. This is what happens when we have a MBA try to run a tech company.
I have no doubt that Randell is a smart man, possibly brilliant, but I do think his talents would be better served far away from this communications company.
