Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

No choice in the bad decision.

The worse part of the current lay-offs in the retail stores, is the fact that there are people, who were forced in the new position, who would have preferred to be given the option of a severance package, and part ways with Verizon, while others being laid off want a chance to apply for the newly created position but were never given the chance. This is both unfair and unethical, and just for the record I was one of the chosen ones to be pushed into the newly created role, and retained.

Maybe some of these folks don't meet the diversity quotas. In this day and age, qualifications and work ethic are being trumped by the PC "diversity" and "inclusiveness" agenda. Because everyone knows that customers don't care about the quality of products and services, their biggest concern when choosing a telecom provider is which company's workforce most fairly represents national demographics.

Probably time to change the Credo. It really isn't how we operate any longer

Totally agree. I feel like my phone is bugged. If they know you want to leave with a package you are forced to go where you do not want to go.

Want to stay and youre let go. Verizon knows not the meaning of ethical. Not in the least.
