Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Turmoil for ATO in Q1/Q2

Details are intentionally scarce (at least right now), but there's talk of some serious snipping come Q1/Q2...and it's not just for the folks with 15+ years and a salary that's at or above market cap. Yes, even the darling ATO isn't immune to layoffs.

Keep in mind that this "snipping" is all due to outsourcing/consulting firms (probably Amazon too). No technological breakthroughs here, friends. Just good-old fashioned headcount reduction.

I was in ATO and got laid off last year. I am surprised this is still happening, so this is piecemeal layoff, cut weekly, cut small enough to keep it off of news and WARN act. And over 16 months, do the math how many thousands were affected.

Hearing that the cuts will be 8-12%. Just dont know if that's the entire group or just a segment.

The only folks who are safe are 5th level and above. There is nothing this company values more than bean counting suits.

How come you don't know what ATO is? Sort of a big deal. If you still work for the company, look it up!

I wonder how many of these will be engineering positions.

ATO is a golden child. They get all the funding and attention.

ATO is the biggest organization in the company, of course it isn't immune to layoffs.

I agree about the abbreviations. I worked for AT&T for over twenty-two years before I escaped from that place, and I have no idea about what so many of these posts are even referring to. Speak English, dummies!

I wish everyone would stop abbreviating! Some of us may not know who ATO even is...
