Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I can understand wanting to work outside and using your hands, but who would want to be associated with those freaks in the red t-shirts? Are you up for walking in circles every few years, like those beer loaded thugs? Yeah, I knew you would come to your senses!

In Verizon's ill attempt to break the Union, they sent their expendable workforce, the EWA's to the front lines only to be gobbled up by the Union. It wasn't even a fair fight, they were destroyed. And now to add insult to injury. Rif them.

Even on an annnon board these fools are pitted against each other.

The Non-EWA's are backstabbing bastards who looked almost disappointed seeing us upon our return. I support the Union 100 percent now just on seeing their comitment to loyalty with eachother. The company doesnt realize the value these empoyees really have. I would hire them over any of the Non-Union staff any day, if not for just thier dedication and loyalty. It does go a long way.

I was a non-EWA management employee, and I just want to make it clear that not all of us were the a-holes you seem to think we were. I made a particular effort to make our leaders know the great value of the employees I was covering on EWA and made a point of contacting them so they could add input. Although I adequately covered what i needed to in their absence, my boss knew very well that they were valued and needed. And so we are all still here and probably will be a year from now.

I would also like to apologize to the Union for my EWA, you guys had it right all along. Axed while the non-EWA's kissed a$$ in my absence, worked hard to prove I was not needed, and have their jobs today. When I returned from EWA it was almost like I was on the outside from day one. Great people.

It is sad for those of you that are getting your walking papers,I as well,such a company that makes billions not millions but the union guys said it correctly that the company doesn't care about their employees and they were correct ,we turned a deaf ear to them and we should be truly sorry for not listening,we sat on our high horses thinking that we were untouchable,we were so wrong,maybe we should have listened because those guys were here before we came in to the picture ,it's like when you don't listen to your parents advise as your were a teenager then when you get older how many times do you say to yourself damm you know my old man told me that and I didn't listen because I thought I knew everything and in reality I didn't know sh--t.well good luck to all that are gone as well as myself ,there is no one to blame but ourselves.

True but they we all know favortism goes a long way. If anyone from upper management reads any of the statement of loyal employee who were with the company 15+ years and so close to retirement and just let go. Explain how you can sleep at night. I too was laid off by Verizon after working 19 years. I wonder how many were let go after 15+ years. It seems more like age discrimination. So many employees worked hard for so many years thinking that Verizon cared about its employees. I guess the joke is on us. Has anyone heard of the WARN Act. It states that the employer is suppose to give 60 days not

30 in which we got. Did Verizon find a loop hole so that we only got 30 days not 60..

Some many of us needed our medical and dental and now that left us out in the cold. Has anyone thought of filing a class action suit against Verizon and the way they treated the hard working loyal long time employees. I guess Verizon management and upper management motto . Got to watch our own back. Act like you care but dont really care. Long time employees are useless to our bottom dollar

@JNGnGLH-aid Bingo, my EWA was my death sentence this time around, even though I never took a day off and gave them everything I had. I was the go-to guy in the shop where I was assigned. The managers there loved me and relayed that onto my managers. However, my co-workers (friends) my "teammates" did all they could to make me irrelevant while I was on EWA. Today I wish the Union all the best in the future, they truly deserve it. and I would like to apologize to the members of the Union ( The true meaning of teammates and co-workers ) for my ignorance and my EWA.

Time-Warner (or whatever they're called now) is hiring techs starting at $15 an hour!

@JNGnGLH-aid - You are spot on. It's been going that way for years at Verizon. If you get sent out on EWA, they are most likely looking to get rid of you. And the people the don't go on EWA, do all they can to keep their jobs and bid you farewell in the next RIF. Knee-pads, brown-noses, and curry-stained lips are the new fashion at Verizon.

They used me also then showed me the door. The kicker is while we were gone on EWA our back stabbing co-workers proved they could get along just fine without us. I hope karma is real.

For those that work fot verizon should be looking for a plan B all the time,the market is saturated growth is slow no more fios expansion,and if their 5G service takes off ,they will rebrand their fios service with that technolgy and then you will see more and more layoffs,so dont count on being employed with vz for the long run,so take whatever you can get and leave your doors open..take advantage of their tutition plan...

I dont see verizon hiring outside tech anytime in the near future ,last time they hired was 2003 and all of those guys were let go 5 years latter and never hired since and the outside work is dimishing as the years go by..

No one who works for Verizon should be surprised by anything these low life's do . Maagement lies to your face and they don't give a crap about you . Take what you can get from these bastards and then move on .
