Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

Manager layoffs

AT&T made the announcement that managers will be laid off (a little late as we all know the layoffs have been happening for a while) I am assuming because the number of layoffs will be higher abd sooner than T anticipated they had to make the announcement to cover their butts. I am positive I will be included in the layoffs. Good luck everyone.

Also imagine the glee of a blank checkbook and being able to blow money hand over fist and being able to "use car" your way out of scurtiny.

It takes a certain kind of person to become part of upper management at AT&T, and if you cared about other people before you started your climb, you definitely lost it by the time you get there.

Imagine the glee Randy has on his face as he puts more people out the door, for him each outsourced job means bonus money in his pocket.

I don't understand how people like that can sleep at night.

It's easy when you look at it as reducing numbers and not impacting people. When layoffs were announced for my organization the VP kept reiterating that he knows how this impacts people and all that happy horse sh-- but they don't care. As long as it's not them.

It depends re layoff methodology. Sometimes it's HR driven, sometimes it's blended HR/Dept Leadership. Othertimes it's Director/AVP driven with little to no AM input.

Very little oversight at times as well. 1 month b4 our director was demoted (he had performance and behavior issues) they let him decide w/no guidance. And he surplused people who he could identify (detractors) on nps surveys. (Not kidding)

How do they determine who to layoff? Is it a crapshoot?

The company had to make cuts to support trophy wife Randy's spending habits.
