Everyone I know, myself included, we're all solutions managers in the role for at least 4 years, and all have families. None of the managers promoted this year were affected. It's like they cut everyone who was finally making decent money for their years of hard work, and just let go in time for Christmas. Thanks. I was in the process of trying to buy a house. Thanks, on behalf of my family. Perhaps I should just shoot myself before my life insurance expires.

Why thou you worry about this pity job. Destiny is something that God and your Karma decides not your employer. I was laid off last year around same time. Almost in same situation as yours. Single earner for family of 4. I did get job with in Nov 2015 itself and enjoyed 45 days vacation on Verizon paycheck. Currently I work for a company which is at the bottom of fortune 500 but listed as top 25 best place to work in America. My work is much appreciated in new place and my workload is 40% reduced.
Verizon is sinking. I can bet everything on it. Vodaphone laughed all the way to bank with 135 billions. Verizon leadership saw the opportunity in over competitive wireless market 10 years down the road. They are getting rid of flagship FIOS and buying scrap like AOL, Yahoo, etc. in billions. Verizon is trying to become technology company under the leadership of Army veteran Lowell and his Y2K certified IT leadership. Oh yes i.e. how google and Facebook are ? Keep dreaming Lowell .

Were you aware of or a participant in fraudulent activity designed to increase commissions? If so, why are you surprised that it finally caught up with you?

Being laid off is a heavy burden on the mind. Don't let it affect your time with family and friends. Make a list of things you have to do - check out unemployment guidelines for your state, contact old friends, work on your resume, use the resources Verizon provides, look everywhere for job openings. Sorry about the house if you had one picked out.

Hang in there. It will get better. Take the severance. File for unemployment. And look for something new. Enjoy the extra time with your family while your between jobs. Verizon is on its way down and be grateful you were offered a way out.
I know it's in jest, but not a cool post....Good things will happen to good people, and this to shall pass. Suicide is not an option, Life insurance doesn't cover suicide anyway. I'm a big believer in a higher power, My prayers have been answered many of times, God does have has a plan, and if it doesn't line up with yours, let him take control. You'll see. It worked 100 percent for me. Not 99% 100 percent. try it.
