Yes I heard the same at 10 percent not 5.
Shine is EVP of ITCS. If you don't know what ITCS is you probably don't work in IT at Verizon
Wireless.
Inside tech support for wireless or wireline. I am on the wireline side in tech support and have not heard anything. I wish I would though!! I do not think anything will happen this year
Never heard of "Shine".
Are they a Dept, an outside contracted company, or some kind of company initiative?
I know inside Tech Support is facing cutbacks soon.... just waiting for when and where.
Frontier riffed dozens in Tampa (management) in the first wave of cuts. When the 2nd will come is unknown and if severance packages will be offered to veteran employees who are at top dollar is unknown but the smell of it around the corner. Thousands of customers have left after Frontier took over from VZ and they have to show a profit some how. VZ was top heavy, however, Frontier has to fix it's problems with pricing if they expect to do better in the Florida market.
Most "wireline" and "wireless" teams were already integrated under Shine. So that answer is most likely yes
Just wireline.... or wireless also?
To those who have marketable skills, get out and run, your knowledge and skillset plus the vz names makes you worth a lot to other employers. To those that don't have marketable skills take advantage of vztap and start working on them.
Still amazed at the whole H1B thing. Crying worker shortage and laying off people doing the job AND the job of the people from the previous layoff. Came across my spouses severance agreement when I was sorting paperwork the other day. All I can say is Wow when I read it. Did anyone not sign it and have any luck complaining to the government?
No future , but still collecting a pay check, I just work here
Just Americans axed again?
Sadly true. Expect the usual 'efficiency' and 'more automation' speech soon. Not just workerbees this time. Low performing directors also on the block.
when shammo jumps ship, so do I.....happy Halloween buddies
The light at the end of the tunnel is a train
thank you for sharing that because its hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The culture of verizon has really brought me down in the past year. The strike almost broke me but I couldnt quit because my family depends on me for healthcare. This reminds me to have hope. Why is Shammo retiring more of a red flag than everything else ?
Typical Verizon sooooo glad I'm out of there. Thankfully had enough time in and took my pension, 401k and health benefits the first chance I got.
There is life after Verizon. Had marketable skills and found same paying job with a nicer company. Research other companies who actually like to see their employees do well. I saw too many highly skilled people both Union and management get downsized, excessed, offers to leave. Company annually has 2 downsizings per year around holidays, hates it's Union and lower management employees and like Wells Fargo, told if you don't like it leave. It's ashame. It's highly leveraged. Research analysts who study the sector. Shammo leaving is a red flag. Keep your skills up and don't fear leaving. Life is short. You deserve to work for individuals who understand leadership, team work, fun, and getting the job done with pride.
Yep
