Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Lost my job in 2014 when Follett took over my store...

does anyone know if Follett's sales have been down? And if so, does my old college get LESS money then they originally thought they'd get if they leased to Follett? Or does Follett guarantee a college whom they take over a certain hard and fast dollar amount every year? Does anyone know?? (I'm just really hoping my college has 'buyer's remorse' and is hardly making any money at all from ruining what had been a beautiful store as well as several people's livelihoods). (A girl can dream...)!

Your school joined the ranks of," Another One Bites The Dust". Marketing is KING!

Because of constant sales declines due to Amazon and others, most school commissions are lower than previous years. The schools only care about their money they receive from commissions. The customers of the store have buyers remorse.

Unfortunately, the universities tend not to care. The bookstore has become so unimportant in the lives of most students, the university would rather be rid of operating the store. At best the college bookstore is a place for hats, tees and sweatshirts, blue books, maybe computer help, a place to "buy" the book until their cheaper version of the book arrives (when they'll return the bookstore's book). To some, the college bookstore is an easy place to steal whatever they want. Once the bookstore became marginalized, in student's lives, the institutions stopped caring.

It depends on the contract. Some institutions get a "no matter what" dollar amount, while others are strictly as a percent of sales.
