Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

In all seriousness, what is this company's direction?

Where is it going? Will they sell off all physical assets and become a digital media/ad content company? Will they keep their physical plant? Are they positioning themselves to be bought by Google or Facebook (that sounds crazy, but some of the recent moves seem crazy too)?

Whay say you?

I think it's a good question. This company is all over the map with a different direction each week.

It is not like people can't compete with Indians one-on-one. Thanks is no the problem. The problem is that Indians are much more united when it comes to promotions and hiring.

I often interview for IT positions and did not have nob-Indian resume on my desk for years

...and then they have the nerve to cry age discrimination! Its amazing how 99% of the people who are of "ripe age" are literally doing nothing but taking up space and holding others back. The whole organization is clogged and stagnant because of them. I cant wait for them to be thrown back into the real world where people know you are washed up sh--. Hang on while ya can because youre careers are over and it only goes down from here.

OMG this is my life. Im in chat support and im sick and tired of these stupid people asking why chat isnt driving accessory sales and why arent you guys mentioning accessories more? Ummmm How about because all the chats we get are people angry, confused, desperate and cant get anyone else to help them? Kinda hard to make an accessory sale to someone who cant pay their bill because their husband died and is the account owner and they are locked out... but they cant get anyone to help them (happened twice this week) ......Kinda hard to sell accessories to people with disabilities who cant call for help because they are f---ing deaf (HAPPENS EVERYDAY)

I'm from corporate and agree that the store employees are used as a dumping ground. On several occasions I have been vocal about corporate decisions that leave you guys on the front lines of customer wrath but most people do not care as long as its your problem and not theirs. I encourage you all to speak up and make noise and call the problem out so they cant hide. The same thing happens to the support teams. I think there are a couple easy ways to fight back 1. Go on crowdaround and start coming for people. Make it visible to others so corporate cant hide from it. 2. Use powerful ideas as a public forum to draw attention 3. Go over peoples head if they wont do anything. It might sound corny but its a start. There are plenty of us who are tired of these fake so called leaders who dont care about running the company in the ground because they already got theirs. There are some of us who would be happy to blow a bit of smoke up peoples asses and put them in the hot seat for a change

Its too bad. Verizon Wireless was a great place to work when wireless growth was prevalent and our network advantage actually meant something. It has gone downhill so fast. When wireless became part of VZ is when the wheels really fell off. Things were much better when we were not a publically traded company.

I don't know where things are going, I also don't know how to fix this huge mess leadership created. But I don't see how it could possibly could get any better anytime soon.

I am not usually a conspiracy theorist, but I don't see how the wireless side could possibly still be reporting growth every quarter. It is just not possible with the competition reporting records growth, and the market is saturated, I think Franny and team are fudging the numbers MCI WorldCom style.

The leaders and managers are easily identifiable by the knee-pads and curry-stained lips.

WOW!!! and here I thought I was the only one who felt this way! I look all the way up the line of my direct supervisors and don't see 1 leader among them, let alone a good manager!!!

@1yyc, AMEN!!! Almost every decision these scumbags at the top make is an out and out failure. The best part is, after the idea fails miserably, they all pat each other on the back and get a nice big bonus check. They are all a bunch of no good criminals and belong behind bars, not in a boardroom.

I work in retail and I just want to say that I hate the group of dog sh-- behind the my verizon changes. As if billing wasnt horrible enough already... They actually found a way to make it worse. The customers dont understand and they come into the stores ready for war and I dont blame them. Ever since they did that, my workday has been hell. We have to deal with the disasters corporate makes and we cant f---ing sell and hit quotas because we have to be your f---ing clean up crew.

Death to the scum in corporate.

The company is a disaster. You are so right about thinking it cant get any worse... and then somehow it does.

Does anyone think there is anything the company is doing right???

Not sure what the future holds but we need major change soon. It's painful coming into work every day and watching the company crumbling apart. Lower level management is under so much pressure, I almost feel bad for them. Forget about "Better Matters," our motto should be, "The left hand doesn't know what the right is doing." Every day is total chaos and confusion. Guess what? Just when you think it can't get any worse, it does.
