Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Congregate on 2 at 2pm on 9/29

I'm asking for 20-30 people to join me on the 2nd floor tomorrow (9/29) at 2pm. We don't have to say anything to one another. Our presence alone should speak for itself. I know some of you may think its a dumb idea but I think it'll at least give us a since of support for one another. I'm not sure if it'll work but I do know that we must join together somehow. I know many of you have already thought of doing something about what's happening at Follett so lets do something. If you have any positive idea's please chime in but please join me tomorrow at 2pm on floor 2

Thanks

Sorry. The 'Thanks Obama' was a joke perhaps you have seen on social media. Hitting a nerve was 100% unintended. Sometimes I forget no humor will be tolerated here.

Banks and student loans. Once student loans became very profitable for the banks, more banks began selling student loans. The additional money did was money does, make everything more expensive. If someone will pay $X for a similar product, you should charge $X, too. Publishers, administrations, bookstore companies all lined up to get a chunk of the student loan. Costs went up so more loan money was needed. Because student loans were fairly successful (and not well regulated), more money showed up to fund more student loans. The cycle is ongoing. However, the market is beginning to push back. Is the latest edition text really worth $675? More students are finding ways around the costs they can control. Books are one of those things.

Anyhow, many of the pressures that are killing the middle class are present in the high price of education. Perhaps we should ask for a war on public education. Since the war on drugs and the war on poverty have resulted in more drugs and more dire poverty, the results should be pretty good.

It is irrelevant who shows up. Upper management will always have the final say, good or bad. If it's bad- they'll just sugar coat it, combined with supposed empathy ( we appreciate you!) . Most care about themselves only and what makes them look good. Play along, and look for a new job. They must wonder why people are dropping like flies.

Review your financial history; the middle class starting disappearing when manufacturing left the US way before Obama took office; the recession of 2008, caused by big banks & mortgages, housing bubble burst accelerated the decline of the middle class. Obama was not in office yet.

Right, blame everything on Obama. Not your senators, governors, or any other elected official. You're a fool if you think he's the reason for the decline of the middle class.

At least it was an effort. No one else has any ideas. Blowing my candle out does not make yours shine brighter.

Great idea. Don't let the fear deter you. management is going to crack down on the first amendment? Show up. If you're in the lobby, you're in the lobby. The employees needed to fight back 2.5 years ago. It's not too late to start

What are you planning on doing at 2pm with all these people? Sounds like a waste of time. I will be at my desk, working.
