As a former Company Engineer, The use of contractor based work at AT&T, expanded rapidly from specific project to regular maintenance and repair with companies like Mas Tec, AT&T’s assertions that Google fiber and their contractors are making mistakes in their engineering plans, are quite questionable and disingenuous, while stonewalling and derailing competitors projects that would benefit complete regions of the country, where AT&T had abandon pretty much it's interest.
Not all MasTec crews working on AT&T projects do work for them, MasTec released construction managers and project coordinators, who are now part of Google Fibre, doing exactly what they have done in the past, in addition of others AT&T's former engineers and outside plant managers' OPT's, and Facility / Fiber Splicers , many who were affected by the past AT&T layoffs.
AT&T response?, "Google Fiber will no doubt continue its broadband experiments, while coming up with excuses for its shortcomings and learning curves ".
As for Google Fiber point of view, AT&T will be able to delay our access to utility poles, but no one will be able to stop progress to choice, price competition, innovation and creativity.... "times have change AT&T"
