Not surplus related but I wonder what the company is going to do to conform to the new law requiring an employee make a minimum of $47,476 base salary to be classified exempt? Especially those of us in retail who are vital to stores' success, such as RAEs and RSMs.

In Business salary tequirements You don't get what you deserved, you get what you negotiate, that's if you are someone of value to a company
Bye Bye Commissions - the company has been wanting to do this for a long time..not just indirect, but direct (COR) as well. this is just the beginning. Think of all the people that can be "surplus" if reps go on salary. Additional savings (surplus) coming.
The company can pay someone 10% commission and 90% base pay to satisfy the rule as far as pay mix goes.
I have a feeling some of you are going to be disappointed. There is more to the OT eligible rules than just base pay rate.
I believe what may happen is you will be classified as a non-exempt hourly employee. It's either that or the company must raise your base salary to remain as an exempt employee.
Layoffs, will solve that problem, and get lots of part timers
