Ridiculous AT&T says Google Fiber's make ready pole proposal could compromise CWA contract

AT&T is concerned that Google Fiber is successful in Tennessee and other states, to streamline the make ready process to string its fiber on local utility poles, the FTTH provider could compromise the telco's union workforce relationship. Google responded to AT&T concern, saying is all about a non competitive business environment, and price gouging, in other words antitrust.

We understand that AT&T has every right to charge as much as it wants, and consumers can, and should, shop around for better deals. The problem, though, is that in many major markets there's little or no competition. In fact, the vast majority of American homes have access to only one, or sometimes two, broadband providers, according to the FCC, and the faster the speed the fewer the competitors.

To the organized labor issue Google Fiber said, that they use contractors that hire out of the union hall. “They’ll give union members an opportunity to do that work, but even if they do that it’s different to pick up a little contracting work as opposed to have a collective bargaining agreement that establishes wages and other terms and conditions.”

I was gonna type the same thing. The recent Robo call coalition is in partnership with Google and Randy is the defacto leader. How do u win friends and influence people with this sort of press/legal antagonization. This is more cautionary tales about silos and groups operating as islands. The apprach could be disastrous. Please pivot this stupid culture. Software companies don't operate like this.

Google need to Sue AT&T under current antitrust laws, now AT&T officials held a press conference in which they hinted at the possibility of suing the cities over issues surrounding the rollout of Google Fiber in US, I am so glad AT&T had to cut prices in several markets, thanks to Google new footprint,.
