Are our managers allowed to tell us they have been surplused? Do the surplused managers have to pretend they wanted retirement or that they choose to be transferred? Several of our managers were (we were told) offered jobs elsewhere. Our trainer was offered a job in TX. Which she took but now they asked her back to do a training class however the rumor is she is on her last days as she choose not to stay on TX and after these next couple of classes she is leaving after18 years

I believe manager should be open and tell their employees what's actually happen we all have family and would like to know where we stand instead of been on the dark, or acting like if we were little kids. If managers are been laid off or offices are closing to me they have the right to be able to talk to us and letting us know what's coming. AT&T needs to stop trying to control our lives and even our words. Sorry to hear what happen to you and hope you come in here an tell all.
Some people in our Org @ATO wanted to leave," Don’t let people self select.", i was told by my Area manager in a meeting with HR, so they kept the ones who wanted to quit, and cut the ones who wanted to stay, Mostly accomplished professional in their 50's
I don't think there is a rule that says they can't tell but some directors area managers 22do recommend keeping that sort of thing on the "down low" as to not create any additional team distractions. I suppose it's up to the manager being surplussed. Just the rumor of surplus is distracting enough. I would want my co-workers to know...
