If Mayer steps down -- which is still an uncertainty -- she'll be due about $57 million in severance after Verizon takes over the company, according to Equilar. That's expected to happen in the first quarter of 2017.

Her enormous golden parachute would come on top of more than $162 million in salary and stock awards that Mayer received over the course of her tenure. All told, she could exit Yahoo with around $219 million in the bank.

These Chief Executive Officers sure do know how to "earn" or line their pockets with the company's money.

Hope they have the executive champions of this deal well identified, as top senior leaders need to be accountable for these half-baked purchases. To take it a step further, whenever there is a write-off or recurring net losses related to these poor acquisition choices, the senior executive(s) champions should get their 'positions eliminated'.

Interesting that Google is playing catch up by building a fiber network in the second cities throughout the Nation, While Verizon has already built, and locked up an established premier fiber network in the top prime time cities on the East coast of the Nation. If Verizon want's to be more like a Google, as most people say, there in a great position, and now getting stronger.

@Iy1KCAO-ehw AOL was a BS purchase. It is sad that they still get a considerable amount of revenue from dial-up. The tech that they scooped up in recent years was/is no better than other things that VZ was already involved in.

The Yahoo purchase is different though. They are a powerhouse as compared to puny AOL. This will work out well, but I still don't know about AOL, which is about as useful as Go90 and a one legged man in an a$$ kicking contest

None of this matters, it's a game played by millionaires. If it succeeds great, if not no big deal. The people making the decisions have no worries, they will never be impacted.

This is a long term positive for shareholders. For employees it..unfortunately, well who cares about them these days? The mother ship cares only about shareholder value so in looking at that it is a positive.

AOL brought technology and was a good purchase it seems so far but the relationship still young. Yahoo! brings eyeballs and some content. Is the price of 4.8 billion high? Vz probably paid a premium but it can afford to do so.
