Is at$t routing calls to other countries ? Our calls drop all day or the call quality is so horrible that we can hear every other word. Every year prior e time lasted just a few weeks and we had back to back calls. This year we Still have etime and calls are spotty at best. I have been a CSR for 6 years and I know every year we have a slow period but this year has been very different. I hate to leave as I am comfortable here and make an nice chunk of change but I don't want to wait and come to work with the doors locked or get the pink slip. I just wish AT&T would let us know ahead of time that we may be let go. We have lost many mangers, they were offered jobs else where or asked to retire. Now our managers that are left hBe 18-20 reps on their teams when they used to have around 9. They have hired a small group of CSRs but they do not fill the many, many empty seats. When I first started at AT&T all the desks were full on each floor now one floor is empty one is half full and the other 2 floors are a quarter filled. (Parking lot has not been full in a year) we never have a problem finding a close parking space. I wish I new more I am concerned that u will not find a job that pays me enough and I know unemployment would not come close to supporting me and my children. I wonder what lies ahead. AT&T is leveraging bots as well as its ability to hire internationally to offset its debt which occurred during the DirecTV acquisition. No doubt Randy and team will still get their bonuses next year.
I am in a very similar position as @IrzKHMp - I like it here but I see less and less work is coming our way. The quality of calls keeps dropping, it's hard to work. I decided to start looking for a job recently, I am afraid that this episode in my career is fairly close to it's end - I just do not think there will be enough work for CSRs
If I were you I would keep my eyes open for other jobs, but otherwise make them lay you off. If you leave on your own you get nothing. If you get surplused, at least you get a severance check.
