AT&T wants to end private line voice service in Alabama and Florida

AT&T (NYSE: T) has asked the FCC for permission to discontinue its BellSouth Analog Voice Grade Private Line services in Carbon Hill, Alabama, and in Kings Point, a suburban wire center in Palm Beach County, Florida -- two markets where the telco has been conducting TDM-to-IP transition tests.

After AT&T gets necessary regulatory approval, the service provider said in an FCC filing that it would stop offering the service in its IP-Trial wire centers on or after October 14, 2016.

The BellSouth Analog Voice Grade Private Line services are legacy TDM-based services that provide an analog channel for the transmission of asynchronous, or synchronous serial data at rates of up to 19.2, 50.0, or 230.4 Kbps. AT&T also offers optional arrangements for this service at 18.74 or 40.08 Kbps.

The only fool here is the idiot constantly posting on here calling everyone a fool.

And 5buf, please know what you're talking about before spreading misinformation. That notice is for certain services. Not all of wireline and certainly not our current entertainment video services (i.e. DTV and uverse).

The FCC posted this legal notice ( Feb 2016 ) on ATT's request to drop out of the wireline business including video.

Read the list of states and be sitting down when you read the list.

Only fools think they are safe. All they want is wireless cell service.

Fool, Do yo think this is the end? They are testing. ATT and Verizon both have gone to the states to get non dominate carrier status . Verizon was given the change last year and within a few month dumped all video and wireline service to Frontier.

Keep your head in the sand and you will be ok. Or you can keep your eyes on the news and if you see your state holding hearings on the ATT requests , go to the meetings and object. Oh wait a minute, your sure this is all a big rumor. WOW

I hardly think two stopping low/no demand services in two rural towns will result in "BIG Network Layoffs."
