My team let two go today, in IT, and as soon as I heard I realized it was going to be less work for me. These two were awful, 1/2 my time was spent going back and fixing their mistakes. Now, our team can just do it correct from the beginning instead of having to see what they did, nuke what they did and rewrite it ourselves, and repeat.
They were both H1B's as well, so I don't really see any bias from that aspect. They both just really s---ed at their jobs and made everything harder. I am convinced now after the past 4-5 years that "restructuring" is just a code word for getting rid of the dead weight. In 6 years we have lost more then a few people, but work has always gotten easier after they have left. Same situation this year.
