Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Demographics......

Declining birth rates equals declining enrollments across the educational spectrum. Yet, the budgeting geniuses don't account for that....because, if you sell one more pen, one more candy bar, that will save the day. The lack of entrenched, experienced, executives in our corporation, within the education market, is KILLING US....Wake up! Hey Clay, our stores deal with entrench enrollment, which is declining.....based off DEMOGRAPHICS. Did any of you study that? Does John Hoffmann have an excel sheet for that???

Declining enrollment has been a part of the budget in recent years. Sales have been budgeted to be down for this reason and others. Guess you don't look at the financials. Which is another reason why Follett is in this shape. They need operational leaders that understand and pay attention to the numbers. Why do you think Follett is in acquisition mode? Gotta make up the sales loss somehow.
